World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes
Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
- Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
- Expires 1 year after issuance
- Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
- The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
- The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
- Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
- Expires 1 year after issuance
- Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
- Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
- The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
- This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
- Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
- For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
- World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
- 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
- 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
- 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
- Discoverist status every year
- 5 qualifying night credits every year
- No foreign transaction fees
- Travel & purchase coverage

I got approved for the card on 11/10 and only 5 nights have posted so far. Hyatt through chat said the nights seem to be posting as 5 and 5, not 10 at once, and said I should ask Chase about the other 5 nights. I'll give it a little more time before I go through the hassle of a phone call.

I signed up for this promo and can earn a free night award by spending $4000 between Oct 27, 2020 and Dec 31, 2020. That will be my free night #1.
Bullet 1 says: From my account open anniversary date in 2020 (March 1) through my account open anniversary date in 2021 (March 1), I can earn a free night award by spending $15,000. That will be my free night #2.
Since the spend periods overlap (Oct 27-31, 2020 is wholly contained in March 1, 2020-Marc 11, 2021), the $4k spend for free night #1 should also count for free night #2.
So my interpretation is that I “only” need to spend an additional $11k for free night #2. Is that not right?
And then I can earn free night #3 by paying my annual fee in March (not clear if that will be $75 or $95; DoC had a story that the AF changes only in Aug 2021).
And finally I could earn free night #4 by spending an additional $15k between March 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021 (bullet 2). I am not convinced that it is worth the opportunity cost to earn this fourth free night. Will have to run some scenarios.

Here's what actually applies to Hyatt card holders like me:
So... no double counting of the $4k spend; I'd have to spend $15k between Jan 11 and March 1. That's not going to happen.
And with that my Hyatt Visa is back in the safe, likely not be used again :/

I've been having a really frustrating chat with Hyatt about the 10 card nights and getting my 60 night milestone cert. I only got 5 nights from the card so far and will be at 55 nights and planning for the additional 5 nights from the card to push me to exactly 60. They keep saying it could take 8 weeks for all the nights from the card to post to my account. This means it could happen in 2021. So I asked them if I will get the free night cert for 2020, and they keep answering "You will get the free night when you have 60 nights", but not addressing my specific concern. This went on about three times with the same cut and paste answer. Then they told me to contact Chase about the nights. But I still want to know about the cert, but they won't answer specifically, just saying I'll get it when I reach 60 nights.
Update: On the phone with Chase and the person working specifically in the Hyatt card department had no idea what qualifying night credits were. She thought I wanted 10 free nights and explained I was getting points and that I could use it towards free nights but how many nights I get depends on how many points are required for the room.
Finished talking with a supervisor at Chase and she doesn't know about the additional 5 nights either. They will open an "investigation" with marketing. It's quite exhausting. They insist it's Hyatt, while Hyatt insist it's Chase.
Another Update: I regret getting this card.

IME (4x this year) has posted pretty quickly, less than a week, after your statement closes if you have crossed a threshold that cycle

Same for me. The first 5 nights posted a few days after the card was approved, but the remaining 5 haven’t yet. Been 7-10 days since the first 5 posted. Any data points on when the remaining will/ should post (I imagine it’s a stock answer from Hyatt, “please allow 6-8 weeks”)? Not in a huge rush for 2020 status, but keen to estimate the 2021 postings as it will influence when I reach Globalist for use in subsequent 2021 stays.

I just checked and there's actually dual offers for new signups for this card - earn 25k at $3k and $6k spend, or earn a $200 statement credit and a free category 1-7 coupon after 3k spend. When I applied last week I didn't have that choice and just had the 50k points offer. Is there any chance I could get this changed to the 200 statement credit and category 1-7 coupon? That seems like a better deal to me up front, and they both have the 10 elite nights.

The WIKI states
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
...
...
- For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the posting date of the triggering transaction, not the statement closing date. For example, December 2020 transactions with posting dates during billing cycles ending in January 2021 will count toward the 2020 status year, not 2021.
However, an article today from frequentmiler.com says this
the spend date for elite nights is measured by your statement close date, not the actual date of spend. For example, suppose your statement closes on the 15th of each month. If you complete $5K of spend on December 16th 2020, then your elite nights will apply to 2021, not to 2020. This happens because in this example the statement in which you completed $5K of spend would be January 15th 2021.
EDIT
Nevermind, looks like the wiki is right

I will be a good test case for this scenario this month w/my spend (passing a $5K threshold, cycle closes 1/2).
Guess I will have to call in January to confirm that these nights did in fact post in Dec? A shame as I don't need them for 2020.

In the comments for the frequentmiler article, a user gives an example of this very scenario, and had the EQNs credited in the year the transactions were posted, not his statement closing date in January. See that whole discussion thread
