World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes
Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
- Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
- Expires 1 year after issuance
- Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
- The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
- The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
- Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
- Expires 1 year after issuance
- Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
- Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
- The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
- This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
- Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
- For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
- World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
- 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
- 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
- 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
- Discoverist status every year
- 5 qualifying night credits every year
- No foreign transaction fees
- Travel & purchase coverage
Other notes and tips
Chase spending tracker
- The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
- Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
- Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
- Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
- Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

I am somewhat surprised that there hasn't been any push to get people to upgrade from the old card like Marriott had done recently. The only offer I have gotten so far is 5K points, which is certainly not worth it for the privilege of paying an extra $20 a year afterward (new card is $95, I believe) and not much more other benefits that would be useful to me.

But yes, it also comes down to how you value the benefits of the WoH card vs. the higher annual fee.

Keep in mind when you upgrade, you reset your anniversary date, and get another Category 1-4 certificate. I paid my $75 fee last May, got me free Cat 1-4 cert, then upgraded 2 months later (with the 5K bonus), and got another Cat 1-4 cert.
In my recent experience, about a day after your statement closes where you pass the $15K threshold.

$1200 in free hotel stays just for getting a new Visa card & spending a few grand is garbage?! I find it juicy, so have just applied and been accepted. Say 60K points. Several of my nice to very nice Hyatt destinations @ 12--15K, while aspirational top-of-the-line ones cost 25--30K. So 4---5 free nights at the former or 2 at the latter = ~$1200 i

I guess it does depend on what benefits the new card one can use. However, in comparison to Marriott, it offered me 50K to upgrade, which is half of its typical SUB, with no minimum spend. If I am offered 20K-25K bonus points (about half of Hyatt's typical SUB, I think), I would definitely pull the trigger even though I don't value other benefits as much as other people. I don't have any issue with 5/24, so I would rather just cancel and get the new CC with a SUB if I feel the need to "upgrade."

I will admit that the 50k upgrade offer for the Marriott card is pretty generous.

Any recent data points time-wise about the Anniversary Cert posting? Am at 7.5 weeks, curious if it adheres pretty much to the 10 weeks per the T&C. Thx.

Agree, this is an outstanding sign up bonus. After receiving invitations for a year to upgrade the old card, I finally canceled it when I crossed the 2 year mark from receiving last Hyatt bonus. Then I canceled the old and applied for the new, was approved, and got the 50k bonus points after spending $6k. Way better value than the 5k point upgrade deal.
Will be using this 50k points to extend the stay at a Ziva property over New Year's 2021. Outstanding value!

looks like chase is following amex. previously, my CC cert posted before the AF. now it took around 8 weeks after AF. thats also how amex HH works. last man standing is my chase marriott. cert still posts one month before AF. but ive also heard upgrading and downgrading resets anniversary dates. YMMV.

My renewal for my old Hyatt card was May 2019, and I got a free night cert for that. Two months later I upgraded to the WoH version. This resets the anniversary year to July. They subtracted the $75, charged me the $95, and gave me another free night cert because I just had my new anniversary. I then spent $15k and got a 3rd one.

Does anyone have a data point during the current promo of receiving the 10 elite night credits if you applied through a referral? Want to make sure I can do it that way and don't have to go through the landing page that explicitly says 10 elite nights.
Also, does anyone know if this card can be expedited? Chase can be slow in sending new cards.
