World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

When do 5 (/10) elite nights post?

I’m a current Hyatt Credit Card holder. I’m a few nights short of renewing globalist this year so I’m considering cancelling my Hyatt card and then applying for a World of Hyatt card. I’d need to do this over the next few weeks.

Any data points on how long it takes for the 10 nights to post? Or advice on how I should handle the canceling of my Hyatt card and applying for a WOH card?

The promo does say 10 for 2020 and 10 for 2021, but I want to try to work out when I’ll hit the 60 night milestone and be able to use the Cat 1-7 award for 2020.

Anyone know if Peleton charges code for the fitness bonus category?
Either the bike/equipment itself or the monthly access fees?

If you search this thread, you'll see others report the Peloton charges do not trigger the bonus.

Not sure about the equipment, but can verify the monthly fee does NOT sadly. but not surprising as it is coded as "fitness clubs or gyms", and Peloton is more of a service.

I don't know how you get an extra night out of that; there's not an extra night.
ok, I see your point.

I guess it depends on how you look at it when viewing the big picture. In 2022, you get the entire calendar year to spend 15k on the card and earn a free night. And you get the entire year from anniversary dates in 2020-2021, so the one from your anniversary date in 2021 to Dec 31, 2021 is an extra opportunity.

If your anniversary date is early in the year or late in the year, I can see how you might view it as not really changing much or getting much of an extra opportunity.

I did check with Chase on my anniversary date, and it is the original opening date of the original card, Sept 30. At least that's what they said. (Despite the fact that my AF is billed on June 1 after the switch to the WoH card.)

Anyway, if this is correct I can get 2 free nights in 2021 if I manage to rack up another15k in spend in the last 3 months of 2021. And then another one in calendar year 2022.

I don't put much onto Hyatt because, prior to Covid, most of my business travel was to cities without a Hyatt. Now, there is no business travel at all. So I might have had only 3-4 stays a year prior to the big V. Thus, using the card was minimal at best. I would, given the current state of MSing, not get $15000 of spend in a year on the card.

I don't wish to upgrade the card for the extra $20 unless there is some compelling reason to do so. I think that the upgrade is being done where you actually have to decline it.

Before I do that, is there any compelling reason to just pay the $20 and do the UG. I can afford the $20, but would prefer not to squander money
Given your situation, it's probably better to close the account. I've cancelled 3 credit cards this year, all with annual fees. Sure I can afford the annual fee, but I'm not using the cards and they're of no benefit to me (AA, Alaska, Delta ... kept my United card). I might get the cards again IF my travels make it worth getting them back, but I suspect that they won't reappear in my wallet.

David, my card expires in July but I have a January anniversary date so I'm not really affected by this change.
I was hoping to be like you, because it slides your 'reset' date forward as long as you can get $15K in 3 months. I can definitely get $15K spend in 3 months, but I'm sure many won't be able to make that work.

Thanks - I think my issue was searching for Peleton as opposed to Peloton - which yields results

Well, I completed my $4k spend a few days ago. The next statement will not close until Dec 20. And as of today the free night hasn’t posted yet. Not that I was expecting it that quickly.

Thanks. I was curious whether it would be tied to the spend threshold (like the cash back offers), statement closing date or some arbitrary date after the promo has ended. Right now it seems to make sense to pay cash for most stays, but it would be useful to have the free night cert around Christmas / New Years when prices go up again.

From los T's and C's:

Please allow 4 weeks from the end of the promotion period for the Free Night Award to be issued to your World of Hyatt account at worldofhyatt.com.
And since the promo period is from October 27 through December 31, 2020, a little bit o' math indicates that, unless Chase and Hyatt want to be generous in 2020, late January/early February 2021 seems to be most likely.

Thanks. I did read the T&Cs, but usually the time frames indicated there are more for the purposes of telling people “don’t bother us with questions until well after the the promo ends” rather than actual timelines involved in posting the bonus/promo. I’m about to hit the $4k spend but my statement doesn’t close until late December. I guess I’ll see what happens.

I'd already contacted Chase on my Hyatt Rewards Card and confirmed that I've already hit the $4K spend and statement closes next week. So another we'll see what happens data point then.

I got approved for the card on 11/10 and only 5 nights have posted so far. Hyatt through chat said the nights seem to be posting as 5 and 5, not 10 at once, and said I should ask Chase about the other 5 nights. I'll give it a little more time before I go through the hassle of a phone call.
