World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

Thanks I was able to add it to my Apple Pay. So at check out I’ll have a way to pay using Apple Pay? Like there’s a terminal at the front desk I can tap or something? If not, I’ll do check in and check out via the app.

depends... you can always put a different credit card upon arrival and checkout using your Apple Pay. But make sure the hotel you are at takes it.

but you need to checkout with your apply pay if you don’t have your physical card yet.

the only way to do checkin checkout on app and use your new card is to save the card to your hyatt profile which you can’t without the card number (unless chase gives you the number, not sure if that’s possible, so this option is out)

My statement closing date is the 27th if each month. So does that mean all spending from Dec. 28-31 will count as 2021 spending? I'm assuming my counter will reset to $0 and the next $15k will get me a free night certificate?
Help?

That's my understanding as well. Spend 15K from your Anniversary Date in 2020 (Nov 27) until Anniversary Date in 2021 then you'll get a certificate.
Spending another 15K from Nov 27,2021 till Dec 31, 2021 will get you another certificate.

I only get a little more than a month to spend an additional $15k? I really want the two certificates in 2021. I can easily put in $30k next year.

Today is the 28th so my new statement cycle started already. I'm assuming all spending from today will count towards 2021 spending?

I'm afraid so if you want to get the 2nd Free Night Certificates.

It will for the Free Night Certificates purpose. That should be the case also for the rolling spend counter for the night counts (2 nights per $5k spend).

What the heck? I saw blogs advertise the fact that I will earn 10 elite nights for 2020 & 2021. I applied card and got card few days ago but disappointed to see that I only have 5 elite nights in my WOH account today. I reached out to Hyatt and Chase, they pointed at each other and insist on 5 elite nights per year.

They said no such thing as 10 elite nights promotion for new cardholders before 12/31...

They are both wrong.

That said, it takes several weeks for those nights to post (at least the 2020 ones... I got the 5 quickly... the other 5 less quickly)

my friend recommend me to chill out and wait till late January or February to make noise on 10 EQN if I don't see anything on my account by Jan or Feb. Worst case - find some cheap cat 1 hyatt for 2 or 3 night (double nights promo) before Feb 28 to make up for 2nd "5 night" but prefer to avoid that if possible.

The wiki has been updated to reflect that 2022 is by calendar year. Take a look at the wiki. 2020 is by card member anniversary date, so the statement closing date is not really a factor. It's card member anniversary date in 2020 - card member anniversary date in 2021, then card member anniversary date in 2021 to Dec 31 2021 for a 2nd possible free night cert in 2021, then calendar year in 2022 and beyond.

When this was discussed upthread, it was noted that your card member anniversary date may not have anything to do with the statement closing date or AF posting date. Especially if you converted from a different product. Check with Chase to figure out your card member anniversary date.

Also, the spend counts when it is posted, not by statement closing date.

I got the 5 qualifying nights on Dec. 5 and still haven't received the other 5. Since (like most people) I only really care about 2021, I plan to make noise in early Feb. if the 10 nights for 2021 don't post by then.

Sigh.... sometimes I wonder if anyone reads anything anymore. The terms and conditions for this offer quite literally say:

"To be eligible for this offer you must apply for the World of Hyatt Credit Card by December 31, 2020. You, as the primary cardmember, will receive 10 World of Hyatt Tier-Qualifying Night credits for 2020 in your World of Hyatt account within 8 weeks of your World of Hyatt Credit Card account open date and again for 2021 within 8 weeks of January 1, 2021."

Has anyone with the soon-to-be-converted legacy card received the promised letter (or any other communication) with additional details? With the switch less than two weeks away, you’d think Chase would have disseminated this info already. But what do I know?

If you read posts up above, there are indications that the second five nights post a weeks after being approved while the first five nights post pretty much within a few days. I also have applied for the card a few weeks ago and only received five nights. It appears that Lucky from OneMileAtATime is investigating per his comments to this post...https://onemileatatime.com/hyatt-credit-card-promo/
