World of Hyatt Credit Card benefit details and notes

Anniversary Free Night Award (Category 1-4)
  • Issued 10 weeks after cardmember anniversary date
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
Additional Free Night Award (Category 1-4) with $15k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases during the current calendar year (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions).
  • The spend counter for this benefit resets at the beginning of every calendar year. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Two Additional Night Credits" spend counter below.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross $15k)
  • Expires 1 year after issuance
  • Ineligible for use with Club Lounge Access Awards and Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards
  • Cardmembers are eligible for only 1 Additional Free Night Award per calendar year (e.g., spending $30k does not result in two Additional Free Night Awards
Two Additional Night Credits with every $5k spend
  • The spend counter for this benefit tracks total cumulative purchases since account opening (excluding $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions)
  • This spend counter never resets. Chase does not make this spend counter visible to customers, so interested customers must calculate their own. Note that this is a separate spend counter from the "Additional Free Night Award" spend counter above.
  • Issued 1-2 days after statement closing date of the triggering transaction (the transaction causing the spend counter to cross a multiple of $5k)
  • For World of Hyatt status qualification purposes, the night credits are associated with the TRANSACTION date of the triggering transaction, not the posting date and not the statement closing date. For example, triggering transactions on 12/31/2022 (transaction date) will result in 2 night credits for the 2022 status year, regardless of posting date or statement closing date. Based on FT reports, transaction date appears to be based on the US Eastern Time Zone.
  • World of Hyatt Credit Card: timing for $5k spend 2 qualifying nights
Other Benefits
  • 4 Bonus Points per $1 spent on purchases at Hyatt hotels
  • 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent on restaurants, airline tickets purchased directly from the airline, local transit and commuting, and fitness club and gym memberships
  • 1 Bonus Point per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Discoverist status every year
  • 5 qualifying night credits every year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Travel & purchase coverage

Other notes and tips

Chase spending tracker
  • The Chase spending tracker is useful for calculating your spend counter for the $15k Additional Free Night Award and your spend counter for the Two Additional Night Credits
  • Chase mobile app: "View all transactions", then switch to the "Spending Summary" tab
  • Chase website: From the main page, on the right hand side, click the "Spending & Budgeting" menu, then choose "Spending Summary"
  • Remember to add spend from prior calendar year(s) as needed (see spend counter notes above), and to subtract $95 annual fee and any other non-qualifying transactions from all years
  • Full list of non-qualifying transactions: returns, refunds, balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee

I got a $12.50 refund backdated to April 1, 2020, which was the date my legacy card annual fee posted. What are they doing here, changing our anniversary date? I planned to keep the legacy card until I received the the annual free night, then cancel and reapply for the WOH card later. I will cancel now if they have changed my anniversary to January, and I would have to wait another year for the free night rather than get it on my regular anniversay month.

THanks!
My P2 account annual fee posts Jan 1. P2 paid the $75 annual fee yesterday and noticed Chase also refunded the $75 too, so account now has credit of $75.
My account annual fee posts Mar 1. I only got a credit fee refund of $6.25 ($75/12), so 1 months refund of the annual fee.

Based on this, maybe we'll get charged the $95 fee later this month or in Feb?

My wife and I both have the old Hyatt card, my anniversary fee charged $75 on 01/01/21, I received a credit today of $75 back dated to 01/01/21. My wife's annual fee posted 03/01/20 and she received a credit of $6.25 today back dated to 03/01/20.

I can only imagine that the reason they are clawing back the $75 Hyatt annual fee is so that they can hit us with the $95 World of Hyatt annual fee.

Mine is backdated to 7/1/20. Between the failure to prove the additional details (as promised in the cardstock mailer) and the absurd retconning of the annual fee, I’m fully prepared to ditch this card on the basis of bad faith alone.

Yep. That was my view of what Chase/Hyatt did to those of us with the legacy Hyatt Rewards Card when I cancelled late last year:

While I would have preferred to have kept the Hyatt Rewards Card and been allowed to decide for myself when and if I wanted to transition, I was truly put off (pissed, disgusted) by Chase and Hyatt's decision to automatically transfer us to the WOH Card.

So be it. I've made my decision and gave the customer service agents a clear and expressive piece of my mind and why I cancelled a credit card held since January 2011.

My $6.25 refund has now posted as well (3/1/20). So I guess we can now expect a $95 charge on Feb 1, given that $6.25 is $75/12.

I assume they will have to post the “free” anniversary night at that time as well?

My plan until now was to cancel after the night posts and before any new AF is due.

In other words, don't go spending the $75, I guess.

Thanks for the replies. I will hold off for a little bit to see if I get charged the $95.
My account anniversary was 1/1. Paid $75, then was refunded $75.

Chase don’t seem to know what’s going on either. The response to my secure message asking about the annual fee was just nonsensical garbage.

When I log in to my Chase account, I see my old legacy Hyatt visa card changed to the new WoH visa card (the picture changed from the old one to the new one).
It looks like the card number is the same though.
Does this mean I can use my old legacy card at Hyatt hotels now and receive x4 points instead of x3?
Or do I need to wait till the new one arrives in the mail?
I am asking because I have an upcoming Hyatt stay this weekend and I'd assume I won't have possession of the new card by then.

You can continue to use your existing card and will get the benefits of the WOH card.

This really bothers me. Was it just a rumor that legacy card holders prior to a certain cutoff date after this forced conversion is supposed to be able to renew at the old rate? I think Chase/Hyatt really botched this "upgrade." Like beltway mentioned earlier, the lack of transparency (via poor/minimal communication) throughout this process really sours on me. I think I am done with Hyatt credit card after I cancel it, which I will wait until I receive my last FNA. I might keep it for another year if I am offered a retention bonus that would at least make the effective AF $75.

I was told over secure message that my annual fee on the WOH card is $75. I had the Hyatt card for 3+ years. Who knows how accurate that actually is.
