You would have to negotiate this with the event coordinator — typically not. I had my wedding recently at a Park Hyatt — nothing towards base. The Hyatt CC might be handy for bonus points.

Also, lots of jurisdictions don’t award points for alcohol which is a big part of event spend.

There’s also an event promo of like 2 EQN for every 5k spend.

Make sure you get it in writing as well.

I am a leisure traveler. Joined gold passport in 1992 and only 80% of LTG. Stays at Miraval help. Am more likely to eat in hotel restaurants now. Hoping I get there before they change requirements and am still young enough to enjoy a few yrs of LTG.

Thanks. That really sucks cause I was going to pay for my kids wedding reception at a Hyatt. Maybe need to negotiate and get it in writing. Just need another $36K to reach LT.

Definitely should negotiate and get your boatload of points and spend.

Any leisure lifetime Globalists out there?

I am partly a leisure LT. I was around 300K base points when I retired…

I'd say 70% leisure, 30% business, majority of business was 1995-2001, leisure was 1985 to 1995, and post 2002.
1995 Hyatt had 2 corporations... Hyatt (for all US or North American hotels) and Hyatt International - there was a moment, when they were about to allow points earing only with Hyatt, but not the international hotels. That would have been a bummer for me as all business was in Asia/Middle East. luckily there was too much opposition..

I became LT in 2018. Mostly work travel but the Globalist (back then Diamond) always drove us to choose Hyatt when traveling for leisure. And continue to do so. Since making LT there hasn’t been a single year that I haven’t hit at least 60 nights. The way that Hyatt has it setup, I feel, truly drives long term loyalty/revenue. I don’t feel that way at all about Marriott where I have lifetime Titanium but maybe do 1 to 5 nights at a Marriott each year.

I reached lifetime from leisure travel while living in hotels. We liked the restaurants and spas well enough so that helped speed the process along. The eligible spend was some seemingly random number from about half of the stays so check that or it can slow your progress.

Since reaching lifetime, we have been upgraded to a premium or specialty suite on about five of seven stays. Before lifetime, this had only happened maybe two or three times. The hotels also seem to be more proactive with offering us a dining credit or amenity when there are issues.

In your experience was there a pattern or way of knowing which spas would likely earn lifetime base points?

They have to be managed and owned by the hotel. Not an outside operator or franchise. You can also ask Hyatt Concierge about spas you're interested in and they'll tell you which one are points earning.

The concierge normally seems to refer to the website Hyatt has for participating spas and restaurants, but the site does not seem well maintained. Check there first, but the best way really seems to be to just ask the hotel. I recommend simply asking if you will earn Hyatt points on spa treatments or at specific restaurants. I don’t recommend asking if they participate since that is often misunderstood as seeking some elite benefit at the spa or restaurants.

Sometimes I have had to follow up, but I’ve always been able to get base points if the hotel told me I would earn points.

I usually just ask spa names (of hotel spas where I'm going) and they tell me hotel managed or outside managed.

Hyatt managed spas:
APAC

Grand Hyatt Seoul
Andaz Tokyo
Grand Hyatt Tokyo
Park Hyatt Tokyo
Hyatt Regency Kyoto
Park Hyatt Kyoto
Fuji Speedway
Grand Hyatt Hong Kong
Grand Hyatt Erawan
Hyatt Regency Hua Hin

Non Hyatt spas
Andaz Seoul Gangnam
Park Hyatt Seoul
Park Hyatt Busan
Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur
Park Hyatt Bangkok
Hyatt Regency Sukhumvit
Hyatt Regency Tokyo

Search your hotel here and you will know if they award points for spa or dining: https://world.hyatt.com/content/gp/e...iningspadining

Yes, if it’s there, then you’re good. However, many participating locations are not listed on the linked site, which is why I recommended just asking the hotel.

I also asked Hyatt directly about a restaurant (Locanda @ Churchill London) and they confirmed to me it was a participating location - however I was unable to collect points after dining there (the restaurant staff had no idea what WoH was).
