Checked with my concierge and I do have a suite after all. Looks like the agent forgot to deduct the TSU from my account. The TSU could only get me the Big Sur Suite, but it looks great so I'm fine with that.

Just got back from a great two night stay. I booked the first night with points and used a TSU for the Big Sur Suite, and the second night with a category 1-7 award certificate which was ineligible for a TSU. At check in, we were upgraded to the Big Sur Forest Shower Suite for both nights. So far in my account, the TSU is unredeemed.

I have recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency Kiev with my family. I booked two rooms on points (one under my name and the other for a family member as a Guest of Honor). My room was upgraded to an Ambassador suite (a premium suite) and my relatives' were given a deluxe room connected to my suite. The welcome amenity was a bottle of wine, a giant bowl of fruit and some macaroons. Check-in was done "by the book" with my Globalist status acknowledged, late check out offered, etc.

Every single interaction with the hotel staff was pleasant and everyone went out of their way to accommodate our requests. There was a small mix up with a restaurant reservation I asked the concierge to make for me but it was the restaurant's fault.

Globalist breakfast was at the restaurant, even though there is a Regency club that offers cocktail receptions every evening.

I think this the nicest Hyatt Regency I have every stayed at and it could easily be a Park Hyatt with some minimum changes.

This is my first year as a Globalist and my first attempt at using my suite upgrade awards. I called and had 2 of my awards applied, 1 in London and 1 in Paris. I was quite impressed with the process, both stays were initially booked with points, and I assumed there would be a catch. Both were confirmed on the phone and I was told I would get confirmation emails in a few hours, I am quite happy with this benefit. I had to work and shift a few stays around this year to make Globalist again next year, but I am quite impressed by the value I receive from Hyatt, so not much of a sacrifice, lol.

what is the policy regarding room occupancy after upgrade?
is it possible that one book a paid rate for 2, and apply TSU to a suite that allow more than 2 people, and more than 2 show up for the night?

Am facing that issue - think my concierge said the rate jumps by $20 per night for a 3rd adult

We used the suite upgrade on a 3 night stay at the Andaz West Hollywood 10/8 and had a very large 2 bedroom suite. Loved it! It was an award stay.

Just booked and confirmed an upgrade at the HR Hong Kong Tsmin Sha Tsui in May on a 3 night award stay.

And so "confirming" with the hotel management isn't the same as confirming with the agent who is actually going to check you in or assign the suite.

Maybe people who know more about the inner-workings of room allocation can chime in.

A friend is going to be staying at an “All suite” Hyatt house (as an Explorist with 55 nights). She would like to be upgraded to a better suite.

The one she booked into was “One Bedroom King Suite”. The one she wants is “Two Bedroom King/Queen Suite” as 3 adults will be on the stay. When paying with Points the only rooms available (ever) are the One Bedroom King Suites. The Two Bedroom King/Queen Suites show availability during her stay though.

To confirm it she wanted to use a TSU since HH isn’t required to give upgrades based on status, but you’re saying if she applies a TSU they likely won’t even see it.

What would you recommend she do then? It’s her first time at this property, but it doesn’t appear to be a high traffic property.

she should calculate the cash difference between standard room vs. 2 bedroom suite using standard rate and send a nice email offering to pay that difference each night for advance confirmation of the upgrade. alternatively, she should book the desired room type using the best rate plan she can find.

She show me the cash rate for the One King Bedroom Suite is $119, and the Cash Rate for the Two Bedroom King/Queen Suite is $139. So a $20 difference, I doubt they’d let you pay the additional $20 daily.

There appear to be several of these room types available as it’s off season at this destination. Alternatively there’s a 3rd Room type available too With a King Bedroom and another Bedroom with two Twin beds which would be perfect also.

I guess what I’m getting at is what do you think her chances are of getting upgraded to the Two Bedroom King Queen being an Explorist since it’s a Hyatt House?
