Done the GH SFO last year, had 2 rooms with P+C and all 4 grown-ups got access to the Club.

Did PH Zurich Dec 31-Jan 3 this year. They have great P+C availability.

Made reservations for the Long Beach Centric hotel. Great value with P+C. 75$ plus 6000 points, vs regular rate of some 439$!

Is there a specific question you have? Not sure if 4k points and 35$ is really worth it, you may be better off paying the full rate and use your points at higher categories.

I think iherebyresign is referring to the discrepancy between what a category two's co-pay should be (ie. USD55) and what he/she actually booked for (ie. USD35).

Don't get too.excited. It's probably just $35 before taxes and service charges...

Correct. Cat 2 properties are supposed to be 4k points + $55, not $35.

While that might be true, the copay is supposed to be before T&S. That said, I recently noticed that PH Tokyo has the copay set so that it works out to US$300 AFTER T&S are added in, but that has not been the case at any other property I've used T&C at.

That's not likely to reach $55. Either there was some sort of sale (discount) or somebody typoed the amount.

Did it actually say "$35", or was the poster approximating from some other currency value?

Said $35 on both the website and my confirmation email.

It does seem like some properties either don't know the correct copay for P +C rates, or make mistakes in regards to billing. I've stayed at a few category 1 hotels that charged $35 for the cash portion instead of $50. This occurred more than once, at different properties.

Now, I did notice that for the bill, on the second page (which is probably the reimbursement from HGP) that the $50 rate is listed there, for direct bill. So I'm guessing that they accidentally switched it around, and charged me the the amount that should have been billed to HGP.

I tried to correct someone once, only to be told "sir, you are really mistaken." So I just let it be. :)

Adding more data points, I have a reservation for 6k points + $50 instead of $75.

Maybe it's another change that is coming on March 1st (we can always hope....)

Is it just me or is the Hyatt Regency Tokyo a steal for 6,000 points + $75 USD?

I'm debating between that or Andaz Tokyo for 12,500 and $150. Tough call.

stargold Feb 12, 2016 7:22 am

On the whole, the price differential reflects the difference in quality between the two, though. It's really a question of whether you are willing to pay the additional cost for a corresponding increase in quality.

That's not to say that HR is overall a decent and cheap option in Tokyo - rather, the Andaz is a significant leap on top.

(The equation does become different if you can apply a DSU to the Hyatt Regency booking, as you can't do the same at the Andaz)

I'm not diamond, just a lousy plat :p

farnorthtrader Feb 12, 2016 8:23 am

We are also plats, but chose the suites at the regency for 3 nights for less points than the regular rooms at the Park or Andaz.

They're both great deals but I would do Andaz in a heartbeat. Arguably nicest Hyatt in the system. Have you seen the pics? Their basic room is 50 sqm.
