No, stays are still relevant for another month.

Only for the "fools" who think doing 25 stays in 2 months is worth it.... and not for those asking about it only now.

There's no harm in admitting you were wrong, you know. We've all been there.

Ummm, yeah there is. Perhaps the member is honing in on his or her 25 stays and was querying whether his or her particular tactic would get him or her over the line.

Hyatt points newb - sorry if this has been asked/answered - I have read through this thread since a bit before P+C bookings became available in self-service. If P+C does not show as available online that means it is not available right? Calling in might not change any outcome? Points bookings are available for a decent rate (8k vs $207) but a P+C booking would be an even better redemption! I assume it is a no go, but just figured I would double check. I also tried searching random dates between now and end of year and still see nothing so maybe they just don't do P+C. This is Hyatt House Pleasant Hill I am looking at. Thanks!

I don't think I've ever seen C+P offered at HH Pleasant Hill, even when cash rate is <$100. I did do C+P once at HH Pleasanton. That's a nice property but 20-30 minutes from Pleasant Hill depending on traffic.

I had a C+P stay at Hyatt Regency Tulsa which was recognized as a stay not counting towards elite status. I thought it should - did the rule change? Thanks!

P & C with DSU applied incorrectly?

I booked 3 nights points & cash ($55 and 6000 points/night) at the Hyatt Regency in Jacksonville and then called in to apply an expiring DSU. Everything was great until check out, when they billed me $179 which was the rate for the junior suite.:confused:

Unfortunately I had to leave early and my wife was the one that checked out so she just took the bill and I figured it would be easy enough to call GP to have them issue a refund, but they denied my claim! 18,000 points were deducted from my account and my credit card was charged $179/night x 3 nights.

Here's the email I got from Hyatt Accounting:
I have spoken with my finance department and looked into the history of your GoldPassport booking. It seems that you did originally book the room the way you intended, but on 1-12-17 the room was upgraded from a king to junior suite. It was at this time that the price changed and you were charged for the room rate of $179.00 per night with a free junior suite upgrade. We are unable to issue any refund or make an adjustment at this time. I do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Obviously the DSU wasn't applied properly (still show 1 in my account) but I never got an email reflecting a rate change NOR was I shown my rate when checking in. I'd assumed everything was kosher.

How do I escalate this?

I would start by pm'ing GP Concierge here on FT.

It's not uncommon when a DSU is applied for the room rate to change to the paid rate for the upgraded room. The property has to manually correct this and it sounds like it wasn't done in your case.

It's just insult that they also took your 18,000 points.

+1

It's not unusual to get an email after DSU that shows a suite at a cash rate and it had also confused me the first few times. But within a day (usually, much quicker), there should be a second email that shows the correct information.

It's unfortunate but you have to stay vigilant because mistakes do happen: I've had DSUs not redeposited from canceled stays and had reservation cancellation via Diamond Line not make it through to the hotel which resulted in a no-show charge. Even more frequently I've had Diamond amenity missing from a folio or incorrect 'eligible spend' on a folio.

This never bothered me as the DA would then be worth 1500 pts. ;)

I agree that you should reach out to the Gold Passport reps here. They are pretty good about getting to the bottom of things. The Hyatt accounting dept that you mentioned here was that corporate or at hotel level? There should be some record on your acct of you calling in to request the DSU even if it wasn't pulled. Corporate level should be able to see that or at least see where you called in. I agree though that it's crazy they took your points AND your money. It's easy to see that something isn't right there. How can it be a "free suite upgrade" when you were charged more than the price of a standard room? Please keep us informed on the outcome.

I'm wondering if an individual hotel has any flexibility in what they charge for a P+C rate. I would've assumed not.

However, I am currently looking for nights at the Hyatt House Pleasanton, a Cat 3 property, and I see nights are 12000 points or P+C nights that are 6000 points + $50 / night not $75.

There is no mention in the Hyatt literature of any flexibility. I'm not complaining, I assume the hotel would honor the rate even if it is a glitch, but I've never seen such a thing.

Variable cash portions are a known glitch. Scroll back over the past year or so in this thread. I recall there are other threads on it too.

Yes, the hotel will honor the rate even if it is lower.

Is the cash component impacted by the number of guests? My understanding is the cash part is set in stone (with non-US properties using the USD equivalent) but I've come across a property that adds a fair whack onto the cash component when you add a second adult to the reservation.
