The reply from Hyatt was that you DON'T get the Diamond amenity when doing a challenge, since you get 1000 points per night for the first 6 nights.

Will see what happens on my next stays with the Challenge...

Either that's something that has changed very recently, or it is flat wrong.

The 1000 point present has nothing to do with anything. Throughout the trial, you are a Diamond, not a non-Diamond being granted certain Diamond privileges.

this is my understanding too. I have booked a number of nights and each time I asked about Diamond benefits like full breakfast and was consistantly told yes, I would be entitled to all Diamond member perks during my stay.

I did Diamond Challenge November 2013 - January 2014. I was asked whether I wanted the Amenity or 1000 points every time.

To clarify, the first 6 nights of your Challenge you receive 1,000 points per night as a bonus. You still receive a choice of amenity at the front desk once per stay, choices include 1,000 bonus points or available hotel food selections. Other choices maybe available depending on the hotel.

So do mean on the first night, I could opt for the 1000 points and I will also get 1000 bonus points?

I'm confused. I understand Diamonds get 1000 bonus points or the food and drink amenity. Is that one doesn't points for the stay for 1000 points per night for the first 6 nights? So up to 6000 points?

And what about the post above mine, with an additional 1000 points? I don't follow that part. So I'm staying 4 nights next month at Andaz Maui, and I will be doing the Diamond challenge. I booked all 4 nights on points. So I will get 4000 points if I choose that over the amenity, and an additional 1000 points for total of 5000? Or does all of this only apply on paid stays?

Those completing the Diamond Challenge get:

  • 1,000 pts/night for the first 6 nights of their challenge

Everyone who is a Diamond, including those that are completing the Diamond challenge get:

  • Choice of welcome amenity at check-in, 1 per stay:
  • 1,000 bonus points (only 500 at Hyatt House/Place) OR
  • Welcome amenity (usually drink/food options)

This means that if you choose 1,000 points as your welcome amenity and your first 6 stays are 1-night stays you will be getting 2,000 points/night for the first 6 nights of your challenge.

To answer your questions about points stays, here is my email from Hyatt ( http://weekendblitz.com/hyatt-diamond-status-challenge/ ):

Dear Mr. xx,

Thank you for contacting Hyatt Gold Passport.

Regarding your inquiry, currently a Diamond Trial Offer is available. You will receive trial Diamond membership for 60 days with proof of top tier status with one of our competitor programs. However, you must complete 12 nights in 60 days to maintain Diamond membership through February of 2015. You will also receive 1,000 bonus points on your first six eligible nights within 60 days, up to a maximum of 6,000 bonus points. Please be aware that the earning period for the promotion begins at the time of enrollment.

Thank you for including the screenshot of your Starwood status. Your Platinum membership qualifies you for the Diamond Trial Offer. Please advise if the conditions are acceptable to you and we will be happy to proceed with your enrollment.

To find more details on our exclusive Diamond membership, please visit us online at:

goldpassport.hyatt.com/gp/benefits/membership_diamond.jsp

I appreciate your support of Hyatt and the Gold Passport program. Please let me know if I may assist you further.

Best Regards,
99 times out of 100 points stays are NOT counted towards eligible nights....
Hope that helps to clarify.

Quick question for the veterans -- is there a month-long break in May when old promo ends (6/1/13-4/30/14) but before a new one begins (6/1/14-4/30/15)?

I have 9-10 nights planned in May so far so I am not sure if should wait until May 1 for new challenge (and hopefully get Diamond through Feb. 2016) or start it sooner so I can use two sets of DSU and participate in Endless Possibilities.

Is Hilton Gold VIP the same as Hilton Gold?

Do I have to show past stays or can I just show my card to get the GP Platinum?

Has it been announced that a new status challenge will begin on June 1?

Hyatt normally has begun its new Diamond challenge on June 1st of the year. If you begin your challenge prior to that date, you'll only have status until February of the following yr.

On the other hand if you begin after June 1st, you'll have it through Feb of the the following year AND the next year (not sure the proper English term, so bear with me).

I've asked about this a couple times and haven't really gotten a response - when does Hyatt typically announce a new status match program effective as of June 1? I understand that they've extended it/ issued a new challenge every year, but there are no promises that a new one will be announced.

Thanks.

Requested on Thursday, still no response. The customer service representative told me there are too many request these days and normally it takes 5 days to respond. Too bad I have to cancel today's reservation.
