Going to Hawaii end of July and looking to have status for the Andaz Maui. When does Hyatt typically release the terms of the new promotion starting June 1 and if successful do you keep status until Feb 2016 w/the new one?

So sorry I don't know if this has been asked before...

Do BRG nights count toward the 12 for completion?

Yes, when they book these for you it will show up as Hyatt Daily Rate and you get full stay and points credit for them.

I am debating signing up for the Platinum challenge, but please test my thinking and assumptions:

I am currently platinum with IHG, and my wife and I have a big trip planned for Tokyo and Sydney this September. We were planning on paying a daily rate at the IC in Tokyo and hoping for an upgraded suite. The same was true for the IC in Sydney.

Now I am thinking I would sign up for the Hyatt challenge, get the Diamond status and the suite upgrades. Use Points + Cash for the bookings (through my Chase UR points) and guarantee a suite with the 4 suite stays.

Would all of this work if I booked my hotel by the end of the challenge period? And/or will it matter if I am not Diamond status at the time I actually arrive at the hotel?

I apologize if these are basic questions, I am just more versed in the IHG world.

Best to check first. I stayed at MGM hotel in Vegas and it does not count toward the "Diamond Challenge". However, you do get nights credited toward the your GP account. BTW, I can also book MGM hotels via Hyatt.com .

Anyone have any luck with rooms booked through Rocketmiles counting for a Diamond challenge (or GP status in general)? Rate seems to be the same as hyatt.com.

You do not have to be Diamond during your stay, just apply the upgrades before you lose them. Call the diamond line.

If I check in on 02/28 do I get Diamond bennies? I think my Diamond dies on 02/28 (is it on midnight on the last day of the month?)

No need to check "For the purposes of this Promotion, an “Eligible Rate” shall be defined as any hotel published room rate, including, but not limited to, rates found on hyatt.com, the Hyatt Daily Rate" and BRGs book as Hyatt Daily Rate. I did the challenge a while back, and the few BRGs I had all counted. It is interesting that the MGM properties book at MGM daily rate, but I agree that it's a little unclear and I probably would have expected those to count as well. I'm guessing it's this language that they look at "An eligible night is defined as a single night at any Hyatt in which an eligible rate is paid."

What is the Diamond line (I am a Diamond) and is there a Diamond email address, too? I need some help with a few reservations and would rather speak to a dedicated Diamond rep if there is such a thing. Thanks.

Hi doss1,

There isn't a Diamond email, but you are more than welcome to PM us here for assistance with your reservations.

Cheers,

There aren't dedicated Diamond Reps even if you call the Diamond line - I believe the only thing calling that line does us to put you at the head of the queue.

Some of us have Private Line Agents that we can contact, usually email, for requests. Otherwise, the GPC staff are amongst the most experienced agents.

I started my Diamond Challenge today, and I am going to do my best to hit the 12 nights in 60 day goal. If I don't finish the challenge, will any reservations I make during my trial be recognized as diamond reservations upon check-in, even if I am back to Platinum?

Benefits like access to the Club for breakfast/drinks are important to me as the cost of breakfast for two in Tokyo may be about the same cost (over the duration of the trip) as finishing the challenge.
