We stayed at the Renaissiance in 2007 just before they were shutting down the operations so that a St. Regis condo/hotel would come in. Then recession hit, St. Regis didn't happen and 6 years later, Andaz Hyatt is near completion. Anyways, the Renaissiance at that time had lots of love and people were sad to see it go. It had great grounds and a nice beach compared to other hotel's beaches in the area. There was a nice snorkeling spot right in front of the hotel. Hopefully Andaz will be as nice. This part of Wailea is luxurious and beautiful.

I find, regardless if chain, opening dates are delayed, even after the official announcements.
I stayed at the PH JED not realising it was during the soft opening. It was fine, but generally the property is not fully operational.
