I either have the worst timing in the world, or the Hyatt site is down a significant % of time. It's down again right now. I would estimate it's down 5-10% of the time I try to book something.

It would seem that the revenue lost from this downtime easily outweighs whatever infrastructure improvements are needed.... I don't see how they couldn't build a business case years ago that showed huge ROI for IT improvements...

According to the Mr. Z the website is best in the industry and up 99.9% of the time. Of course we all know what piece of shite the website really is. I was just trying to book a hotel in Johannesburg. Hyatt's website was down (not surprisingly) again. Booked Hilton and Carlson property.

Site appears down, high latency is likely the issue.

Acting strange this morning - got to the GP.com page fine - when I signed in it said "Service Unavailable" but then typed in the GP.com address again and my account information showed up.

And they used to call the United website [dot]bomb :D

I think we would all be happy if it was as big a bomb as UA's :)

Welcome aboard to Flyertalk!!!^
Interesting observation/ first post
If it took the buggy Hyatt.com to have you post in the Hyatt community then
thank you Hyatt for an unstable website and a new community member ;):)
Cheers

This is actually worse than the double point deductions that were being pulled for award redemptions not long ago
This is where even the Hyatt Ambassador is about to throw in the towel and I can fix almost anything with Hyatt.
Its not easy to deal with the Hyatt Twilight Zone fuzzy math accounting
No one could discuss the situation over the weekend other than open a case
Sigh..........Hyatt with all due respect what gives?!
Is there a Hyatt Ambassador in the house for an Ambassador? :D

In 13 plus years of Starwood as a Platinum lifetime member
I can't think of one transaction that has messed up like the dozens at Hyatt that have gone wrong
It should be simple you book a debit to the account happens you cancel the points go bcak into the account.
What about debit and credit with a paper trail in real time that Hyatt does not understand nor make right?

I feel like Hyatt.com just shuts down reservations around midnight or so.

And at noon. And at 8 AM. Maybe it depends upon where you are? I can think of FIVE instances over the past two days when I've tried to book reservations on the website and it hasn't been working.

Good god Hyatt -- please start running your website as an actual (profit-making) business. As a customer, your offline frequency and timing is infuriating.

Sorry, we're experiencing technical difficulties and were unable to complete your request.

Hyatt should go ahead and trademark that, for all the visibility it gets...

A website I've just visited showed that exact same line when trying to make a new booking!! I wonder which one...

Quite frankly I haven't stayed at Hyatt's lately but when I was trying to make a reservation today for same day arrival this piece of $^%te is down again:
