So not much if a deal here at all it seems.

You lose the 3% AMEX discount and you can't use it on Hyatt.com rates.
Time to break out the Cash-back AMEX! Had the same problem with the 2500 point Mastercard bonus, but I didn't see a whole lot of upset people on that one. Now if they reinstate it...

Re: Hyatt.com rates - you can use it for any refundable non-prepaid rate (i.e. AAA, Sr. Citizen, etc) that is not a group (i.e. convention, casino or conference) rate.

Very interesting. @:-)
Thanks for reporting on this, neighbor. I am planning to go there myself to get some if you haven't cleaned out the store!

Not to worry, I am not yet sure I will get any.

I am pretty much just a "SPG-C+P", "IHG-PB",
and "1-baht per night" kind of guy. Bottom-feeder.

Refundable check could make some Hyatt experimentation easier.
But 20% is just 20%. I prefer a missing zero or two....

Some here at FT consider a mileage run as a great sport

Anyone know if buying Giftcards with Costco AMEX will still give you 1% cashback?

Actually I doubt you can use them for payment if the due amount is less than the face value (i.e. 50$). "Certificate may only be accepted in increments equivalent or in excess of face value toward purchases equivalent to, or in excess of the face value". Which leads you with complicated balancing act to charge stuff to your room.

Also, I was assured by three separate Costco employees the certificates are returnable ("only if unused" lol).

If you need to find out the availability any local Costco can check inventory in nearby warehouses.

Thanks OP for alerting to this deal.

I bought some this afternoon. Each envelope was supposed to contain two $50 certificates, but the first envelope they gave me had four, and then they ran out of envelopes and had to send someone to their vault to get more certificates which weren't in envelopes yet. Ended up counting each and every one and left with the amount I paid for.

The question is, how much should I buy?? Does anyone know for how long Costco will sell it?

They do have unique certificate numbers on each sheet.

I was told that it is a seasonal item for Costco. They have a LOT of gift card selections for the holidays. My local Costco has no plans to reorder when they exhaust current inventory. They had 63 envelopes when I left yesterday. I have no idea if there are other Hyatt afficionados in the neighborhood, but I wouldn't count on them still having the certs in January.
