Other Prague Info

If you are flying into Prague and wish to save money getting to the center, the Prague Transit System runs a minibus shuttle between the airport and Namesti Republiky, which is a short walk from Old Town Square, Wensceslas Square (Vaclavske Namesti) and Florenc and The Hilton. It will cost you about $10 instead of $30+ for a taxi. Shuttles run quite frequently and can be found curbside outside the terminal. Czech taxi drivers are notorious for overcharging foreigners. Forget about public buses, too many transfers needed to get to the center from the airport.

Diamond Upgrades, Suites And Any Email Address

Hi,
Can anyone comment as to whether Diamond VIPs usually get just exec lvl or a suite. I checked the property page, and it looks like they have a number of suites. However, only the King Junior Suite appears on the computerized availability display. I would even think of booking the King Junior Suite if I could then get an upgrade to one of the better suites, will be a trip w/2 people and with people visiting.

Also does anyone have an email address for the hotel? Web site only shows a phone#.

I know from people in PRG that this has a nice health club also.

I am Diamond and will be there over Thanksgiving weekend. If your trip is past then, I could provide an update then.

Hilton or one of the Marriott properties?

I am going to Prague over Thanksgiving and would you recommend the Hilton there or one of the Marriott properties - Marriott or Renaissance? I am indifferent since I am Diamond at Hilton and Platinum at Marriott and this will be an award stay if it matters.

Marriott is far superior in location and ambience. Renaissance is right across the street from Mariott.

Prague convention center

Does anyone know how far is it from Hilton Prague to Prague convention center? I will be attending a conference at the convention center and am in the process of deciding on a hotel.

Force, details about the Prague Congress Centre here - I believe the address is 5.května

How to reach the PCC (generic directions) here.

I got the following results using the Hilton web sites map (not sure whether this will work, so have posted all the steps I took to get there).

1. Go to Hilton Prague Local Maps.
2. Enter address above (5.května) in address line, Prague in city line and Czech Republic (from drop down menu) in country line. Destination (Hilton) is pre-entered.
3. Going from Hilton to Congress Centre - simple click on "get reverse directions" and it should show up like this.

For 2.41 miles, I wouldn't consider walking, get a taxi. Ask Concierge to write the Congress Centre address on one of their Hilton cards. Use that to get to/from.

Now, there are hotels attached to the Congress Centre, I'd look here

any recent stays

I was reading some notes on Trip Advisor regarding the rooms being renovated. I tried to call Diamond Desk. They did not note anything in their records. I have emailed the Prague Hilton and look to hear from them.

If anyone has been there recently and can comment, that would be great.

I spent 4 nights at the Prague Hilton last week. The hotel is being renovated, and according to the signs the renovations should take in 2007.

I did not see any work being done to the public areas, but it looked like half the hotel was blocked off so they could accomodate the construction. My room was nice and quiet, but some of the public areas and executive lounge were a bit noisy during the daytime due to the construction.

There was no noise issue during the evening or normal quiet hours. My stay was fine, and will stay there again.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Hilton Prague not great

Stayed there a couple of weeks ago for a weekend. The renovations don't seem to be having much of a noticeable effect and there was certainly no problem with noise. Overall we were disappointed with the hotel - the staff were very keen but didn't really seem to know how to do their jobs - for example the guy on the Executive Floor said there were no late checkouts available but main desk said no problem!

The lounge is large and well stocked with food and drink but the staff there were constantly following us around - every time we wandered up to get a drink or food one of them was right behind us.

The main restaurant - CzechHouse is appalling - the wine, food and service were amongst the worst I have ever had at a Hilton.

Location is not great for a weekend stay as the Hilton is in what will be the CBD so is dead st the weekend and also not many restaurants open nearby.

We have just returned from two nights here. We are both HH Gold and were taking my Dad (HH Gold ) and Mum away for a birthday treat. Emailed them a few weeks prior and got a really nice note back saying that they had upgraded us all to nice rooms and would put a bottle of fizzy and card in dads room.

Arrived to find we had not been upgraded, that we were on different floors and we never did see the fizzy or card! After a lot of fuss and waving of emails we did get rooms next to each other and then on the following day were moved to the EF. Slightly annoying in that it was obvious that each room on the EF got fruit / flowers / choccies except us. Everyone was very pleasant it just seemed a bit disorganised. The EF floor lounge was excellent with very pleasant staff. Also managed a late checkout till 1700.

Hi,

Sat 27th Aug to Mon 29th Aug
Room 7069

Arrived at about 1230 pm from PRG airport ( taxi Airport cars from the desk was 650 Cze Kroner).
Checked in imediately and was invited to go upstairs to the 8th floor to check in for the Executive level.
Lifts use your room keycard to go up and down.

Upon arriving on the 8th floor the Executive Concierge addressed me by name ( the front deskhad phoned up).

I wnet down to the 7th floor.
Renovations Rooms 7070-7104 are blocked off whilst renovations are on going. This woould have been the quickest way to the room so I had go the long way from 7001. The corridor from room 7040 ( approx to 7069) had been redone.

I had been upgraded to a Junior Suite ( separate bedroom with glass doors). Bathroom is a liitle small but nice. Lots of storage space , 2tv's and bathrobes and room safe. The room faced outside and could hear some nopise of traffic but not too bad.

The Executive lounge is one of the best I have been at ( hot breakfast until 11 am- sausages/bacon/scrambled egg also) plus oyu could order pancakes.
Lunch time snacks including cola bottles.
Afternoon cakes and evening hors doevrs and After 8 mints and a huge selection of drinks until 11pm.

3 free hi speed pc's by the EL reception.
Turndown service provided.

The first day got a 1lt bottle of italian wine white, 4 appetisers and a fruit plate.
The second day got a half bottle of Red wine, 4 small fruit danishes and a fruit plate.
1l bottle of water also provided daily

I had dinner at the Cafe Bistro with a very nice Chicken curry ( thai)

The pool area is very nice with an outdoor seating area ( and no clothing steam room and sauna mixed)

I was able to charge the taxi back to the airport onto my room bill (850 krn)

The hotel is about a 15min walk to the old town square (20-25 min to Charles Bridge)

Overall the best executive lounge I have been in.

On the day of departure, ( Monday ) I heard bagning from the room nex to mine ( being renovated) at about 1030 am

Regards
