Hilton Diamonds pay resort fees irrespective of booking channel, except on points stays which applies to everyone anyway.

($125/stay, +60/day bf credit +$50/day diamond = $455 total food credits). Because we were in double rooms and it was Thu-Sun, didn't expect much of an upgrade. Luckily all three of our rooms were on same floor on 17, two of three rooms were strip view I believe.

The good:
  • The Hotel is like a hidden oasis away from the craziness of the mega lux resorts Aria and Cosmo next door. Hotel being no smoking is plus.
  • The WA has a house car, a BMW 7 series that is free to use for drop offs within a 3 mile radius. We used it to drop us off at Resort world Thu night. Rest of weekend, line for house car was too long and luckily Lyft availability was good so we used Lyft Lux/XL after that.
  • Sky bar was a good place to get cocktails. Unfortunately Sky bar is open on a limited basis.
  • Food credits galore if you are Hilton Diamond and stack with FHR/Virtuoso booking.

The bad:
  • The hotel rooms had worn down hardware, doesn't look like they remodeled since Mandarin Oriental opened in 2009. (Geez, has it been 12 years already?) Weren't they suppose to do a remodel since they reflagged from the Mandarin Oriental 3 years ago?
  • Only one restaurant is open now, Zen kitchen, and it's take out only for breakfast Mon-Thu, only open for dine in breakfast on weekends. Limited hours for room service dining. A far cry from the vast options available at a (much bigger) Casino resort.
  • The Zen food was pretty meh and with limited hours, we didn't use up all our credits.
  • Tried calling for a Spa massage spot on Thursday afternoon but they were completely booked up all weekend.
  • Hit or miss room cleaning. A couple of our rooms didn't get made up despite service light being on and us being out of room from 10a-5p.
  • The Valet closet is a nice touch so you don't have to open door to get ice/dry cleaning/cups delivered. Unfortunately, it took on average 2 hours (sometimes MIA for 6hrs until I called again) to get ice or additional cups brought up. And the last 2 days I was there, I stacked about 8 dirty cups in the valet closet and it never got cleared.
  • They used double (or full) size beds instead of 2x Queen beds. I'm taller so the 5" shorter double bed (75"x54" full vs 80"x60") means my feet sticks out the bottom of the full bed. For being Hilton's top lux brand with fairly spacious 500sqft rooms, 2x Queens should be a standard.

In summary, I'm sticking with my mainstays the Cosmo and Wynn/Encore, with the Aria as my cheaper back up.
hi, I am planning on booking WALV through FHR for the end of October. Just wondering did u get any Hilton point for your stay since u are a diamond but booked through FHR. I have hear conflict stories where some people received loyalty point even thou they booked through FHR and others did not.

My friend booked/paid at hotel and did get hilton points. I heard rough rule of thumb with FHR bookings is if you prepay through Amex FHR travel, no reward points because it shows as being booked through OTA Expedia.

If you pick pay at hotel, you're more likely to get reward points but no guarantees.

Anyone know if you can still do a room charge at the sky bar to MGM properties?

I don't know that answer, but the reverse appears to no longer be true. The last couple of stays I've had at the Waldorf, I've been unable to room charge from Aria outlets (e.g. charge from Julian Serrano to my Waldorf room).

I believe the airport is about 3 miles away. Do you know if the house car will take drop off at airport?

It's been a few years since my last stay here, and my past stays (pre-covid) were pretty good. I'm using a free night cert at the beginning of CES, rates/occupancy are quite high so no expecting an upgrade.

Just completed a one night stay. Upgraded to a renovated strip view room. House car dropped us off at the airport. Overall, happy with the stay.

Cool Getting Married?

Saw it on TV tonight in Las Vegas from the New Resorts World @ Crockfords
Waldorf Astoria has a VIP wedding package for only 5 million dollars where they will close the hotel
to all guests except yours for your special day.Granted you will need deep pockets and a large wallet
Put it on your Hilton American Express and imagine all the points you can earn
The package also includes a free stay at any Waldorf for your honeymoon and I think your first year anniversary
Call hotel if interested for further details

There are separate thread for Resorts World and also their 3 components (Hilton, Conrad, Crockfords), not sure why this was posted on the Waldorf Astoria thread. But rereading the post from 777 it is very confusing...was the 5 mil wedding package at W-A or at Crockfords?

Disappointing

Just stayed there for 3 nights.

There are no meaningful Hilton Diamond benefits at this property, if you are lucky you may get a Strip view room but forget about any substantial upgrade. Breakfast is not included, you do get a $25 per person daily credit, but then any room service order has a $10++ delivery charge on top of a mandatory service charge and tax, so the credit does not go very far.

And there are major service flaws, such as Housekeeping routinely entering the room while knocking at the same time and with the DND sign on. No minibar, no coffee machine, not even a glass in the room, unless you ask of course. I suppose it must have been a nice hotel when it was MO but I have had better experiences at other Waldorf Astoria (most recently at the fantastic WA DIFC Dubai) and at other hotels in Vegas (you could get a panoramic suite at Vdara for 30-40% less than the price of a standard room at the WA, additionally at Vdara Hyatt Globalist/MGM gold do get upgraded to a suite from a standard room).

Diamond welcome letter

FWIW you're not going to find meaningful elite benefits at any Las Vegas hotel nor will you find in room coffeemakers etc. That's just standard for Las Vegas.

Hi All
I was saddened by my last stay here just a week ago
Under the new GM the hotel has seriously fallen many notches. The decline started during the pandemic
That said I had a fantastic stay @ Resorts World and they are crushing it at least during off peak times
Received a suite upgrade too

Waldorf Astoria is in big trouble
The new renovation is hideous too and an absolute disaster when compared
to either WA Beverly Hills or the
former Mandarin Oriental which other than wear and tear was great.
The renovation so far is money thrown away with the slightly new bordello like interior
I can get a much better stay as a Gold MGM elite at Vdara for 80 dollars a night
and no resort fees though no breakfast credit

Truly shocking one of the best properties in Las Vegas ever seriously damaged by bad decision
making and bad management
Zen Kitchen still fairly good for breakfast though with their legendary team of severs.
The buffet is gone sadly one of the true great ones too

Had a number of great stays @WA Las Vegas in the past while it was still in the afterglow of MO
A number of team members fled the property too as I ran into them @ Resorts World and they shared
stories with me about the hotels sad decline
