Conrad Dublin. Used AmEx Aspire free night & upgraded to top floor corner room, but, not suite. And, for a one night stay, offered about 5 drink coupons (can't imagine they'd assume I'd have 5 drinks during a single evening) & late checkout.

Used an Amex Aspire Free Weekend night, booked into a deluxe suite with sofa bed ( this is standard room at this property) and was upgraded to Luxury Corner Suite. This room wasn’t ready when I got there so they let me have an Executive Suite to put my things while I went out. So not bad two upgrades in one day and tried both rooms 😆. Check them out below:

I had a very cordial chat with the check-in agent explaining that I usually stayed at Fairmont Singapore (but its being refurbed etc.) & how I always got a nice Suite there but rarely at Conrad. A short one night stay probably helps too. BTW - I am suitably impressed with the hotel & the service here too ^
Next stop is the Millennium Hilton Bangkok (I do NOT like the Conrad Bangkok ) where I have pre-booked a "Family Suite".

Yes, I was pleased although the King Deluxe & Executive King rooms here are very nice too. No, I am not a regular at all, & in fact its been a while since I stayed at this Conrad.

Therein lies the Crux. One can easier score a suite upgrade on a one night stay when there is little time to appreciate the benefit. When the stay is longer, suite upgrades are far less common. There are exceptions, of course, but less common in major markets. I try to stay at properties where I have built relationships, or am in the process of doing so. I find it much more lucrative fir both parties. I get the benefit, they get the business.
