Check the AAA rate... I was able to nab a $189 AUD rate for 2 nights last week. Sorry I did. First stay at this Hilton and was quite unimpressed.

Was upgraded to a Deluxe Plus room. Not sure what that means as it is a small room. And the bathroom is even smaller. No place to put anything next to the sink. None.
On the plus size they have true blackout curtains here - no light at all while sleeping. That was a nice touch.

Internet was ridiculously slow in my room. And due to a public holiday all hotel IT personnel were out - so no one could fix. Had to sit in the lobby to use Internet.

Glass breakfast spread was delicious. Best part about the hotel and my stay.

But due to the room & bathroom size I'd never stay here again.

Well I guess I got lucky since on my 1 night stay, I got a relaxation room.

Otherwise agree with m0hamed's review. I probably won't stay again since I do have a home in the Sydney suburbs but just thought I would try it out on a day when I needed to be in the City until 11pm and again at 7am the next morning.

Knowing that NYE is a very popular time in Sydney I was thinking to stay there end of the year and already securing rooms.

No availability after the 28th of December 2017, would the hotel already be fully booked or holding back rooms for this period?

Theres usually a 3 night minimum. If you are able to wait till a week before NYE they usually drop the 3 night minimum or somethimes a points option is cheaper. As a reference last year you could book the night before plus NYE for 70 000pts per night or $500 per night. Unfortunately 1 Hilton in a city of 4million plus people.

Thanks, I was looking for December 22nd until January 2nd.. website shown as sold out for the dates after the 28th. No point night available.

I emailed the hotel, see what comes back.

Was hoping 10 months in advance would be early enough, even for a huge event night like this.

Intercontinental also shows not available after the 28th and the HI darling harbour at AUD 500.... I might just have to do that.

There's no way they are sold out. They're just playing the revenue game as always.

It is just that they have not set any rates for any date after December 28th, 2017. I am looking for dates in January 2018 and have been watching the site for weeks. Rates seem to get posted about 10-11 months in advance and therefore, if they follow the pattern, rates for late December 2017 and January 2018 should get posted late February or early March.

Reservations are your best option this far out but I would expect a premium price. But it never hurts to ask.

Typically nonrefundable bookings for NYE as well, i.e. you pay full rate when making reservation.

Compared to what the rates will be at the Hilton AUD500 at the HI Darling Harbour does not sound too bad. Sadly.

you (and others) were not wrong.

The reservations team came back with pricing for the entire stay. non refundable. (Even the best available rate online 23/12-29/12 shows in the small print to be non refundable).

23/12/2017 – 29/12/2017 Rate per night/room: AU$ 398.05 including GST
For the night of 30/12/2017 Rate per night/room:AU$ 700.00 including GST
For the night of 31/12/2017 Rate per night/room:AU$ 999.00 including GST
For the night of 01/01/2018 Rate per night/room:AU$ 659.00 including GST

That's AUD 4,348 for a week in Sydney and I am sure there is a 1.5% credit card fee.

I knew they charged a premium but that is more than I would have thought.

Theres usually a few pre paid non refundable sales during the year that you can book most of those dates around half those prices.Except for 31/12 which I have found will not change in price till a week out and no matter how you book it is non refundable. The other 2 nights vary year to year but still double what I would usually pay when booking closer to the date. Unfortunately they charge you for orgainsing your holiday plans in advance.

If you can put off booking till later in the year you should be able to better those prices.
If you have the points 24-29 is showing as 63 000pts / night non refundable for a deluxe room.
