Depending on your risk tolerance for connections, you could take cab to Nico's Pier 38, have lunch or dinner, and a cab back to HNL, all in two hours.

Where can I get a good steak that is not a Mortons, Roys, Ruth Chris, Sam & Harry's (read expensive overpriced IMHO chain)?

My kids and I just like a good steak, fries and if we are lucky, some grilled shrimp with it too

Buzz Steak House in Kailua. Cash only though, or at least it was the last time I was there.

Hy's is very good, but it's along the same lines as Morton's and Ruth Chris. I think TH is looking for a more casual, but good, steakhouse.

Chuck's steakhouse on the beach of Waikiki isn't bad. Certainly not top quality, but the atmosphere is very unpretentious and the view from many tables is of the beach.

Very doable. Nico's is a great setting and never had a bad meal there.

Though, I think that since he's moved to the new facility, his prices are creeping upwards when it comes to dinner.....

Lunch prices are still around the same price and very good. My office goes there 2-3 times a week.....and sometimes I just stop and go to the shop and get poke and a ice tea and go eat at the harbor watching the boats.

I liked Nico's before they moved to the new spot. It had much more of a homey, comfortable feel, though it was not always easy to get a seat.

Check out Blazin' Steaks for a steak plate lunch! :-)
