I can't say, as you can't really see the length of the non-pre check line the way they had it configured. At prime time, the wait was easily 15 - 20 minutes before pre-check when things were moving well.

Keep in mind, this was during a slow period, not the holidays.

The rate determining step was the one ID checker working the pre-check line, not the 1 belt they had operating for the pre-check line.

It didn't appear they had that many belts open at the main checkpoint when I went through.

We flew HNL-OGG RT this past Veteran's Day weekend.

I have global entry, but my wife and son do not.
Upon check-in for HNL-OGG, my five year old son's boarding pass showed pre-check, but not mine... Security line was a mess with all the kamaainas flying interlisland for the three day weekend, but luckily the HA employee assisting security let us line up at the first class/elite check-in because we had a five year old.

On our return flight from OGG, son and wife's boarding pass showed TSA prec-check and mine's again did not... Since two of them had pre-check we lined up for the pre-check and I was able to go in the front of the general security line from the pre-check entry. Is there a glitch in the system for HA?

Was your Trusted Traveler number in your reservation?

Yes, the Trusted Traveler number was included in reservation. Called the customer service agent the night before from the hotel, but after being transferred over to different departments, figured it wasn't a big deal and hung up.
I have another flight next week on HA so it would be interesting to see who will get the pre-check out of the three of us!

At OGG on Friday post noon, peak time, at least half the people in the pre-check line had to be escorted to different security lines because they didn't have pre-check.

There was a TSO at the entrance to the pre-check line, but obviously not doing a great job of checking boarding passes.

The pre-check line is the first entrance most people come to from the ticket counters, so unless they do a thorough job of vetting the line, it's going to continue to be like this.

Hmm, wonder if you may have a name matching issue? Or a space after the Trusted Traveler number in the reservation?

I thought one was only qualified for Pre-check by a particular airline if one applied with that airline. I did so with AA quite a while back. Imagine my surprise when I arrived at LIH recently, for a HA flight to HNL (not a codeshare flight) and "Pre-check" appeared on my boarding pass. I have no special numbers, so I haven't amended my profile to include any. You learn something every day! (I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere in this thread.)

Finally received notice from Hawaiian Air. Will report what happens when I fly out of HNL and OGG this week. Happy Thanksgiving!

HNL-interisland was a bit of a mess again this morning. The normal Precheck lane was accessible by anyone but also open to Precheck. BP-checker said Precheckers would "show" the BP to the TSA agent at the WTMD so could walk through without taking off shoes, etc. and taking our laptops etc. Not a very good job monitoring the bag areas, so pretty sure someone without Precheck could have left laptops in the bag. A bit cumbersome too with a mobile BP. You have to show the TSA agent at the WMTD and then put the phone through the machine...

It was early in the morning (~600 am), so it could have been before the real Precheck lane opened. No clue.

HA fail again.

Just checked in for tomorrow's HNL-OGG flight and five year old son has pre-check by himself and I have no pre-check... again.

How is the security line at HNL inter-island terminal on the day before thanksgiving around 4-6PM? Wife finishes work around 3:30 and hope to make it in time.

We flew out to LIH last year about 5:30 pm on this same day and it wasn't bad at all. But YMMV. The worst part was traffic getting to HNL.

Thanks. Good to know that!
We live near the airport so traffic going to the airport is not a problem. My wife coming home on time might be...

Flew out of HNL on Thanksgiving. I was the only one in the PreCheck line but it funnelled to the same entrance as the regular line this time rather than having it's own dedicated x-ray as it did last month when I flew out. It put me to the front of the main line, kind of like the Gold Lane. Lots of stink eyes from pax wondering why I got to cut the line. But I did notice that the folks who were directed to the WTMD on the Pre side were being told not to remove shoes, laptops, liquids etc. So even though they weren't 'randomly' selected to go thru Pre and didn't use the actual Pre lane, they got the same benefits by virtue of which way the line dragon pointed them.
