For some time already I enjoy flying with AY because to my European destinations there are always enough empty seats left. With the exception of AGP I always had an empty seat next to me as Silver in the last 6 months. My personal feeling is that the load factor got down compared to what I was used to one or two years ago.

Jan/feb is normal season low, where finnair usually can't remove capacity fast enough. LF was 71,9% in JAN, compared to 71,4% in JAN16 and 72,6% JAN 15. So the hard numbers point to season being exactly as before. (but of course routes can differ)

Feeling of low LF is as haphazard as seat next to you being free.

Altered OP to make it clearer. Finnair used the word "cancel" in reference to reducing frequency from 5 to 3 weekly (and used the word "suspends" in reference to the cancelled route) so that threw me off.

Thanks for the heads-up! Was booked HEL-ORD for 19 May, just called AY Gold line (who were unaware of the reduced frequency) proactively and was rebooked day earlier on the still-remaining HEL-ORD flight. MMB still showed the old flight with A340 this morning.

There is some speculation in the French travel press that Finnair might finally start LYS service next year. (It was announced and promptly shelved some years ago due to the economic downturn.)

Sitting in DOH watching the board for odd Finnair codeshare flights, like AY6021 Male, AY6019 Seychelles, 6007 capetown, 6009 Joburg. I guess they must have been around since the start of HEL-DOH
