KIX, NGO and NRT have all varying routings when going eastbound. NRT goes usually via Khabarovsk area, but KIX and NGO may go via Beijing and Seoul as often there is a easterly blowing jetstream over the Korean peninsula. Westbound all these flights most often go via Khabarovsk.

Of course, as always, operators choose routing on day-by-day basis as a compromise of the wind conditions on different available routings (=flight time), overfly fees and as noted before, also political reasons.

Interesting - I was only thinking of the ICN flights, but KIX, NGO are the culprits. Truth be told, I had a few flight to NGO last year and dont remember cutting through DPRK airspace.

As a passenger and frequent flyer, one could and maybe even should be. My preferences regarding international arrival and departure in Seoul are 1) Gimpo airport with connections to China, Japan and Taiwan 2) Incheon airport on either Asiana or Korean Air 3) Incheon airport on any foreign carrier

As I've lived in Korea quite a few years, not really that concerned about the DPRK.

Of course, they could even shell ICN or GMP with their long range artillery as one of their regular military provocations but the regime there is mostly concerned with keeping power and their luxury lifestyle.

Btw, as there are currently no OneWorld connections between China and Korea at all, an AY add-on flight from either PEK or PVG to Busan/PUS might just attract quite a few OW loyalists...

Look like AY is not flying MIA in Summer 2018.

Last MIA 007/008 is 24MAR18.

What on Earth is happening to the BUD frequencies? There has been two daily rotations AY 753 & 755 for as long as I remember, now for July/Augus I see an absolutly weird frequency, AY757. On 30/July it's at 5:50 am, but three days earlier it's at 20:15.

Could it be the Formula-1 race, that make this so confusing? Is the Bottas kid already so popular that fans go in droves to the Hungarian GP as in the old Häkkinen days? (In those days MA had 5 flights within an hour of each other. Guess if the returns were empty and cheap

Obviously needed and well sold, as no X bucket to BUD several days ahead or after the F1 race. U bucket was still available (grabbed a pair) and online chat kindly adjusted the charges for X points + vouchers.
