Will AY Extend elite status or otherwise incentivize travel postponed by COVID-19?

How about us in the basic tier who would have moved on to silver if the booked tickets weren't cancelled? Finnair's FAQ about the corona situation says "We will extend the tracking period by six months and administer the change for all Finnair Plus members by 31 March", which I interpret as including also basic members. Anyone here knows?

The extension of the tracking period applies to status members only (see post #105 ).
There has been no communication about tracking period extensions not applyng to Basic members, so it's safe to assume the extension applies to everyone.
You will not earn points and status for flights you didn't take. But you will have 6 months extra time to earn points, so if/when the situation eases up, you should have plenty of opportunity to reach Silver before your current tracking period ends.

Au contraire.. One basic member was specifically told by AY rep on here (up thread?) that extension would only apply to those who had reached a tier.

Now my tracking period has been extended further from 04/2019 to 03/2021 and plat validity until 05/2021. Go figure...

I wonder if it is true that you have Plat validity beyond tracking period?

My original tracking period ended 31 May 2020. My Plat card says valid through July 2020. Now my tracking period ends 29.11.2020, and my Plat validity extends through Jan 2021.

The card has a 2 month extra validity, which is meant to bridge over until the new card arrives. If you're downgraded, the only perk you can possibly get is F lounge access by showing the card, but it's also iffy, as your b/p will show Gold/OWS already
