In unrelated news:
1. Bloomberg reported "Lufthansa and another unidentified airline are “far advanced” with plans for a partial rescue ...".
2. Finnair recently said they were not in a hurry signing for a narrowbody fleet renewal from Airbus.
What if these two actually are related?

Well, one would assume so, But that article spoke of EZ's well known interest in some of the carcass, and still said "another unidentified airline". Sure, AY is a longshot, but it wouldn't be the first time LH and AY did something together.
Anyway, AB is leasing its entire fleet and there might be a lot of narrow-bodies coming on the lease market all at the same time. They may or may not be of interest to AY, but regardless of which it seems like a bad time to enter into discussions to purchase new birds, if the market place is soon to be flooded.
But like I said, unrelated and just a fun thought.

On my last flight (A319), I had ASR on 10F and then OLCI. I got moved to 9E w/o notice, probably by care-less bag drop staff.
I was pretty pissed to get a middle seat... but then, miracle, the seat block worked wonders. I had no neighbor on either side, even though the plane was quite crowded.

AB's widebodies are allA330 leased from Aercap and GECAS. I'm sure LH/EW have already asked GECAS if they can have the A332 for EW longhaul. GECAS also leased them the 7 ex-QR A332 currently used by EW longhaul.
AY probably could pick up some AB aircraft to fill the gap left by the A359 delays. Airbus has paid for leases to cover the delays, but usually such wetleases went to fine carriers like Euroatlantic

Yes, wouldn't AY interest lie primarily in shorthaul capacity?
Ah, maybe Oliver2002 is suggesting widebodies on shorthaul as a way to increase capacity without the need of rearranging the bank structure.

airBerlin's aircraft shouldn't be of much interest to Finnair, if the later is looking to renew the short-haul fleet in next few years to A320neo or B373MAX, as claimed by the business/travel press.
And potentially many airlines (from anywhere in the world, really) could be interested in airBerlin aircrafts. But I wouldn't be surprised if Lufthansa got priority for the assets in bulk, and left only no-so-attractive pieces to others.
Maybe Finnair will try and replicate the Qatari strategy though? Weren't they desperate for cabin crews?
