Finnair sells "ticket types" instead of booking classes. The various ticket types can overlap in booking class, but they differ in service level and fare terms.
The ticket types are not sold on destinations covered by joint ventures, ie Japan and NA.

Economy tickets:
Light: Z, O, Q, N, S, V, L
Basic: Z, O, Q, N, S, V, L
Value: Z, O, Q, N, S, V, L, K, M
Pro: Y, B, H

[P, T, R and W Economy class fares have been removed in April 2019 in preparation for the launch of Premium Economy in 2021.]
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/finn...-2021-a-2.html

Premium Economy (from 2021):
P, T, R, W

Business Saver: I (long-haul)
Business: J, C, D (and I for shorthaul in Europe)

Economy award: X
Premium economy award & upgraded: F
Business award & upgraded: U

Light is a handbag-only fare, currently only offered in shorthaul operations (Europe and Middle East).
In addition to the above six fare families there is one additional ticket type called Saver, which contains restricted starting-from fares in the lowest booking classes in fares from Asia and North America.

But looking at my ARN tickets, the seasonality marker isnt there at all. Its just RLI2FI etc. So ARN has no seasons?
ARN ticket RLI stands for Runner-Lumo Idiot, obvious for that route!

0 stands for campaign, earning 25% regardless of booking code. The ticket type, LI, means that you don't have any hold bag allowance, as opposed to BA. I guess that CG also means CampaiGn, but that's redundant with the zero.

The season code is either H[igh] or L[ow], but not all routes have it. In my experience, it seems to be used for long-haul.

I thought campaigns would mostly go into W, I remember W0LI fares. But I think I bought OPO during a campaign, so it makes sense.

OTOH, last autumn I booked BKK through OTA and it was supposed to be campaign/R but it ended up earning 50 % nevertheless. I even found the ticket, it says R0PF2FI.

...
In the original fare structure (before campaign and Light) there was a 'saver' type (SV) that existed only in W on shorthaul and ex-EUR longghaul. Only ex-Asia/US did this fare exists in R, Z, and O.

I think the Campaign type replaced the saver and the ban on W-only was lifted.

Probably Extra High Season next week if Viking Line and Silja Line have to suspend their services due to the strike at Swedish ports.

Is there any official web page explaining Light/Basic/Value/Pro differences? You can see this during a booking, but I can't find a static page I could share with my (Asian) travel agent. They are clueless what "a Value ticket" means every single time...

Here is a link to the PR announcing the different fare classes with brief explanations.
https://www.globenewswire.com/news-r...ent-needs.html

The above is a little dated, however, especially given the introduction of Economy Light.

Make a dummy booking for your route and then you can click on the ticket type and roll out a table of fares overview. Mind different regions have different flexibility and fees rules applied to the ticket types, so departure airport really matters (Europe vs Asia at least). Earnings should be the same worldwide.

It is just marketing from Finnair.
  • Light is HBO nonrefundable/inflexible.
  • Basic is nonrefundable/inflexible.
  • Value is semi-flexible.
  • Pro is fully flexible.
(Though long-haul, inflexible might actually be very slightly flexible - including from Asia, I suppose.)

Quick question. I am booked on BA for Premium Economy from LHR to Toronto. When inputting my Finnair FF number, it shows the ticket class as Economy T. How many points am I getting from this flight ( the calculator is not working for some reason). I am Finnair Gold and BA Silver- which would net me more points?
Thanks in advance.

So far, all P.E. fares earn 100% kilometerage. If booked under AY code, you also get the tier bonus.

If you purchased BA flights(50% Avios bonus as Silver) and had time to register before the purchase then BA for sure: https://www.britishairways.com/en-fi...00-bonus-avios

It was bought from BA, so BA iron for sure and a BA code. Im thinking more about the tier points than the actual miles
Reason is as I am both BA Silver and Finnair Gold (OW Sapphire both) and the tiers have basically just reset, Im thinking which one should I aim to retain as next year I wont gather points for both and have some flights booked via Finnair now and some via BA.
