Information on Load requests

The number of seats for sale for a flight are available via ExpertFlyer.com, a subscription-based service with a 5-day free trial. A subscription is $9.99/month and can be enabled and disabled any time. It is encouraged to subscribe rather than post repeatedly in this thread.

NB: Op-up changes or overselling of a flight cannot be determined with certainty from this information, only inferred to be more or less probable.

For a once-off load request please follow these guidelines:

Flight loads >7 days out are not very useful, as the airline could still sell many seats, unless availability of a specific fare bucket (e.g. Business Saver upgrade) is requested. If you wish to know the general flight load please don't post >7 days before departure.

When requesting a load please provide the following information:

- Date of flight (departure date)
- Flight Number
- Origin
- Destination

These four fields are mandatory in searching on ExpertFlyer (see screenshot below) and it isn't fair to except those who pay for their subscriptions to also have to go look up which cities a specific flight number is from and to (also some flight numbers are onward flights (5th freedom routes, e.g. CMB-MLE) and loads will differ significantly depending on which sector of the flight is checked.

I don't believe the STN flights are heavily loaded in F, so there's generally a good chance of an upgrade.

Just looking at the next 3 days STN-DXB for example :-

29/12 - 2/6
30/12 - 4/6
31/12 - 0/6

So, pretty good chance of getting an upgrade on at least 2 of these.

So as it stands, 4/6 still available in F and 4/42 still available in J.

Maybe that’s there’s a chance to upgrade to C or F?

More likely that there's not much chance given the figures quoted.

Very unlikely for opup, but I would have thought reasonable chance of miles upgrade at check in. But of course 10 March is still a week away and a lot can change.

Will08's remark is quite valid, I think. Many people who ask for these 'load checks' (which they are not anyway), do not understand the meaning of the numbers.
All it says is how many seats the airline is willing to sell in the fare buckets concerned. And the significant thing is that Y9 means 'at least 9', it could be 200 as far as we know. '9' is the maximum number for economy fare buckets, and '7' for business and '4' for first (that's for EK and most other airlines but it can vary a bit).

Here ends the lesson.....

I asked for the load check to see how many seats were still available in business. We are hoping to do a cash upgrade from Economy flex. After the getting the info provided, I looked up the codes to see what they mean. I’m new to the site and still learning the jargon.

And that’s quite a good and valid use of the availability feature in EF. You will have seen that there are J Flex (but no Saver) tickets for sale. Expect to be charged the normal fare difference for a cash upgrade although you may be lucky and be offered a ‘special deal’. Last time mrs t was offered such a special deal it was still the fare difference
