From the e-mail:
Some of the new fare types will offer even more Miles, helping you to reach your next reward and tier status more quickly
If this is completely not true, how we should judge them?
They think that we are idiots so they can write anything?
Why they can't just say "sorry, we have some unpleasant changes".
Or maybe this calculator is wrong....
edit:
OK, I can see where is this increase.
Business Class Flex Plus is more then now Business Class Flex...
(for most people is not interesting change...)
Anyway, my gold is expiring End January.
I had very good time with Emirates.
Maybe will have chance to fly with them again in (far?) future.

Skywards was always a lousy product and now it's getting worse. I won't be going for Gold next year. There's no point.
I'll just continue to earn and burn my 1,000,000 UA MP miles. At least it's a lot cheaper.

But I'm now a little perplexed. I did think EK was a better bet than QF, but clearly not so now. Note that I am a QF Gold at the moment and can still enter the EK lounges to enjoy their champagne.
Perhaps I'll have to cosy up to Qantas a bit more (what an ugly thought). Just glad my wife and I are lifetime Star Golds, unless Smisek takes it away...

If they are cutting miles to cut down prices I think it will be a win-win situation for both EK and the not so FT's of EK.
With the economic turmoil going on all over with falling oil price and etc, and EK's bankers are significantly from the middle east who is the most affected of this economic turmoil, EK cutting down on miles for fare will infact help them to attract the Economy cabin, which brings significant revenue for EK.
Recently Jetairways ( India ) pledged all of its 51% share to keep running. Its well known for its FT program and the best available in India. But now they cannot compete with the other low cost airlines who do not offer an attractive FT, but price.. And its works like a charm. EK's significant revenue being from Asia, where there is a fare war all the time, EK needs to be competitive with prices.
Retaining silver or gold for lounge access has been my motto since 2009. But lately with short transits and crowded lounges ex-Dubai never gave me a chance to use the lounges. So for my situation, I will welcome a fare cut if it comes with miles. EK connections is the best in the market for my travel pattern.

Good Times Always Comes to End...
With being loyal EK flyer since 2007 and being Gold Since 2009. It was a pleasant experience untill last couple of bumpy years.
But with this So called "Enhancement" it will be End of good times for Ek & Loyal flyers(ME).
Already Etihad Gold and flying experience is great with them too...
Its a disappointing news but doesn't matter..Our company will shift business to Etihad & QR (OneWorld Alliance Helps in a BIG WAY) ...
Good Bye

Is there any clarity yet on how this is going to affect the earning rate on other programs that partner with Emirates (Japan Airlines in particular).
Will the devaluation be reflected also there?
Given this news, Im tempted to start collecting EK miles on JAL program rather than Skywards

Because someone asked the questions regarding the upgrade policy for tickets purchased before the deadline but flight's after the deadline:
I bought a ticket before February 2015. Do the new upgrade rules apply?
Current fare rules will apply for any tickets you buy between now and 31st January 2015, even if its for travel after the introduction of the new fare types in February 2015. This means that if you book a flight by 31st January for a flight after 1st February and decide to upgrade, the rules in place before 31st January apply.

sorry for not being clear, I'm trying to find out if the amount of JAL miles that i would earn when flying on EK metal would change as a consequence of this.
the idea would be to fly EK, but crediting those miles to JAL program rather than skywards, after this devaluation.
