Yes, it's very sad. EK obviously think they can get away with anything these days, and maybe they can, to some extent. But, I do feel that over time there will be a backlash, low key but significant, and EK may be left holding a small baby. They won't go under, but might need a little top-up from the oil sheikhs. Either way, I don't really care.

But I'm now a little perplexed. I did think EK was a better bet than QF, but clearly not so now. Note that I am a QF Gold at the moment and can still enter the EK lounges to enjoy their champagne.

Perhaps I'll have to cosy up to Qantas a bit more (what an ugly thought). Just glad my wife and I are lifetime Star Golds, unless Smisek takes it away...
