Unfortunately the new Flex fare is the same price/fare class (usually) as the old 3.4-3.6k GBP fares (that is, the "Flex" fare you see on the site varies from 3.4-3.6k to the current 4.4k price). Flex Plus is the new Full F fare price.

I bought tickets DXB - GIG, EZE GIG DXB before the changes in Feb. I managed to upgrade the outbound as well as the GIG DXB but the EZE GIG remained in Y. 2 days before the flight I noticed there was availability EZE GIG so I cheekily asked by e-mail if we could upgrade that leg since it was the same amount of miles required to do a EZE DXB as a GIG DXB upgrade. I know usually you would need the full EZE DXB availability in order to do this way. I didn't get a reply but when I later checked my booking it showed the full trip in J. However when I checked my account, they had debited the miles for the new amount of miles required (78,000 as opposed to 62,500)
I had never given permission for them to take any extra miles from my account so I am pretty peeved and in the e-mail I had stated the fact it was the same amount of miles required as to what I had already done.
Before booking the flight I got confirmation from them that any ticket booked before the changes would be upgradeable at previous mileage so I am hoping that they will honour this and refund the miles! Worst case I guess I'll suck it up but an additional 15,500 pp is a bit steep. Whenever I have had an issue in the past they have been good solving it so fingers crossed!
Bit of a shame the flight is delayed too because of the strikes as the food and drink in the lounge is awful.

If an upgrade seat was still available on the GIG-DXB flight when the first sector became available, you would have had to cancel the single sector upgrade and done the full EZE-DXB as one transaction.

That sounds correct for two separate upgrades, which is what you purchased.

For me, EK customer service has always been fantastic via e-mail thankfully as I know lots of people say they don't even get a response so thumbs up to EK from me.
What I did wonder though was if we had stayed in Y, what would have happened at the transfer since we all stayed on the plane? Would we just have walked to our new seats or would it have been likely for an Op-up anyway? It would have felt strange walking to thew seats

So I just purchased a Flex Plus return for over 2k USD just to find out that upgrades are now 5000 miles more than they were before and the earning is the same as the old Flex. I just received a 2 years THY gold card status match and start flying *A, probably BR or so with Y+. After May this will be for sure my last EK trip

Managed to upgrade us both ways *would not have bought flex plus otherwise as flights to MAN and LGW tend to go full in J.
It cost 10k more each way ie 30k not 25k so an additional 20k down the pan....
I'm hoping that this will increase D class availability.

it's really annoying, I was hoping that I can upgrade one leg with 32500 as before but now its 40k or so.. I wanted to spend another 200$ for 6000 miles to get another 32500 for the return.. but now its much more that I need to spend and it's not worth it because J to TPE sucks, only good thing is the seat. Service and food is terrible, 9 hours flight and all they serve is breakfast...

Hi all,
Long time reader, don't often post. So, back in September 2014 my partner and I booked our Europe holiday this coming June with the hope of using our points that we were hoarding for an upgrade. Was very shocked and surprised to see the massive jump in redemption value.
Thankfully, though, I read the whole thread and, having called Emirates to verify as well, it seems like our ticket has the old redemption value. So our ~ 300,000 points are still usable, I hope.
Anyway, a little sidetracked, but I was wondering your views of upgrade availability for 'Saver' on flights out of Australia in June and return to in July? E.g. EK413 (our flight) and EK412? We of course would upgrade any of our legs but these are obviously the longest. Just fingers crossed they're not totally full as this will most likely be our last hurrah given the massive change in the scheme value.
(Goodbye to the Citibank World card too!)
