At least you snagged an upgrade on a decent route! As we have seen in this thread though, perhaps you don't want to wait 3 years before redeeming in case you get hit with another devaluation!

yeah i'm pretty happy about being able to be upgraded. Especially since there were only about 8 seats open in J when I checked in, and now it's full.

Anyway, I'll likely fly this route (BOS-DXB-CCU) at least once more in the next 3 years, if not twice, though there still isn't much I can do with 40k miles anymore.

CCU-DXB J still isn't full, but an upgrade wasn't possible during OCLI, so i'm hoping I can use 30k miles at the airport today when I check in.

EDIT: I was able upgrade at the airport in CCU to J with 30k miles. While this is more miles total (57500+30000) than if I had been able to upgrade both legs at once (72500), it's still a far cry from the "new" upgrade mileage rates.
Now I'll be left with 12000 miles at the end of this trip, which is better than being stuck with 40k!

Miles earning Reduced Further ?

So I was looking to book a flight from SEA to Asia and found that there is a new EconomyFlex Plus class but more importantly, I used to earn 4000 miles one way and now I will earn only 2800 on Saver

Also Flex is now down to 5600 miles vs 8K miles earlier which is now Flex Plus :P

The multi city is still giving the cheapest of each class. So no way to book a Flex Plus? I usually fly to Dubai for a few days, then to a third country in the area (sometimes BAH, sometimes KWI) and then back home. Sometimes I fly from ALG or CMN to DXB and then I return to MAD. I am sure I am not the only one doing stopovers or travelling to different destinations. Or is there a way to do it and I haven't found out?

I also see "cheapest option" only.
Actually almost all my tickets are booked using "multicity" option.

Still no option to select specific fare class via the website on multi city bookings - looks like you will have to give EK a call if you need to book those.

Any ideas why I cannot get anything to progress beyond the choose flight screen? I confirm selection and then continue but stay on the "business rewards" processing screen and go no further. I also have no ability on the multiple destinations screen to add any additional flights (click the link and nothing happens) -- do i have a problem laptop wise (using mozilla) or is there still major teething problems with the new booking engine - same on fly4 and fly10

Just saw BKK-HKG in J for 360 USD, and Y for 180 USD which is a steal on that route!

Think it's more fare surcharges coming down in line with other carriers rather than any generosity on EKs part

It's fare families giving them greater options to sell tickets cheaper. Not all bad news.

not sure if its been covered here..apologies if it has. I was trying to upgrade a saver economy to Business for a ticket i have in March. I get a message that i can only upgrade at check in and check in opens 24 hours before the flight... This is a really poor development...By the way I am a gold member.

As far as I understand, this has always been the case. Economy Saver fares could never be upgraded before 24 hours/OLCI. I'm not sure if previously your status as Gold would have allowed you past this restriction, but I don't believe it would have. So I dont think this is a "new" development per se....

Some saver tickets could only be upgraded at check-in (this started a couple of years ago). I think it's now *all* saver tickets.

It clearly states when you buy the ticket conditions. Even under the old rules it clearly stated at time of booking if that ticket could be upgraded prior to check in. Nothing new here.
