KIX to DXB upgrade
Upgrade given: Y-J
Upgrade location: gate at KIX
Route: KIX-DXB
Flight number: EK317
Type of ticket: Saver
Date of travel: 10/8/13
Tier status: Silver
Tier miles to date: approx. 40.000
Skywards miles balance: approx: 70.000
Number of pax on the same PNR: 2
Skywards DOJ (approx): 2009
First letter of your surname: B
We were waiting next to the gate at the area they rope off for first/business/status passengers when the gate staff approached us told us `y was overbooked` and upgraded us at the gate.
It was a lucky ticket, as this was the return leg of a December flight from Rome to Kansai that saw a J to F upgrade on the A380 on the FCO-DXB leg.
2 upgrades on 4 legs is pretty good going, Emirates have been very good to us.

Random op-up theory of the day: the more wheelchair assisted passengers you see at the gate, the higher the upgrade potential (12+ on this occasion).

Comment: This trip KHI-SEA-KHI has been rewarding on my outbound I was upgraded on both segments KHI-DXB & then again DXB-SEA. On the way back lucky to have upgraded again. It was 2/3 full flight so was not expecting it. The Check-in desk probed asking me to buy an upgrade, I refused but on boarding was delighted to see the RED light blink as he scanned my boarding card a few key strokes later I was upgraded to Business - 14 hour flight was a breeze
Thank you Emirates - im glad I invested in you, but sadly will be demoted to Silver in one month- already having withdrawal syndromes

Dr Awab - do you mean 21st August as we are not yet into September?

Or is this meant for lifetime miles? (honest question) Can one track that like on AA?

Good Question...
Not sure about AA as I am not a FF with them but on the skywards web site if you go to My Statement and then under filters you set the date range to "All Time", you can pretty much track all your earnings with EK to date.

The form said - "MILES TO DATE" - not miles year to date - hence i wrote an aggregate of approximately what I clocked since joining. I have Gold standing until September after which I will be issued a Silver - I was expecting to be bumped down to BLUE - as I only clocked 16,000 tier miles this year but it seems they don't ground you right away, they ease you down one tier class at a time - helps avoid any Gold withdrawal syndrome

Upgrade given: Y - J (Although checkin said it would be a Y service (still in lounge at the moment!), apparently F and Y service only - but still a J seat so I am counting it as a upgrade - ticket shows Economy but 6F seat)
Upgrade location: Check in
Route: DXB-LGW
Flight number: EK-11
Type of ticket: Flex
Date of travel: 27/08/2013
Tier status: Gold
Tier miles to date: 85K+
Skywards miles balance: 200K+
Number of pax on the same PNR: Single
Skywards DOJ (approx): 2007
Last Name begins with: F
+1 - I had exactly the same, also worth nothing that when I then tried to upgrade through MMB this leg showed Economy - First instead of the normal, Economy - Business. It was still unavailable but maybe another sign of an upgrade! ^
