Which are the A380s with the new lounge? Are they ULH frames?

I think it may only be on two class frames so far, which are all non-ULR.

EPA has WiFi, not sure if anyone is updating the list? Love this thread, use it often, first time I've noticed a discrepancy (says EPA doesn't have WiFi)

My list isn't exactly up to date either, but it does include EPA.

I'm sure all new ones have WiFi, it's the older models that really matter, that being said however, I think most, if not all have had it retro-fitted.

I rarely come across frames without WiFi these days. That being said we're still on stand, an hour past our EOBT

Was in a similar situation this August. Not fun when it's half past 3 in the morning.

Unfortunately I virtually never fly on A380 routes, I average about 40 77W flights on EK per year, with noticeable improvement in the WiFi availability.

23.38, 78mins past EOBT and we just pushed back. Asked an FA if she knew how long the delay would be and she said she only knows what the captain said in his PA, great "I was asleep and didn't hear it" and just got a polite nod... Lucky me with an almost 4h transit in DXB there was lightning right over the airfield as we boarded though (in BOM) and my earlier flight HYD-BOM on Indigo was delayed 45 mins due to congestion in BOM so all par for the course, really.

I'll take a look at the Google Doc later, thanks for sharing!

Cheers, have a safe flight.

If you ever get the chance to fly on anything newer than A6-EPD and notice that it has WiFi, please do add it to the list, just so it stays up to date and then we can ask Zol to update the main post.

^ I'll try remember, I've had a ton of EN* frames this year, I look up every frame I fly in this thread before the flight where possible (not ex-DXB as I usually don't have WiFi by the time I see the reg no), so definitely keen to keep it up to date.

The fun is sitting the terminal in CPT waiting to board a domestic LCC flight and seeing an EK 77W taxy past and recognizing the reg as one you've flown previously. Unfortunately it's the type of joy no one around you understands

Hello Everyone,
I have been told that 5 of the EK 777-300s (non ER) will be leaving EK fleet and going to Cathay Pacific afterwards. May I know the registration for those five aircrafts? Million thanks.

Str1tch Jan 4, 2018 7:13 pm

The last 5 777 classic frames left are as follows:

EMQ, EMR, EMT, EMV, EMX

2 of which (EMV, EMX) are currently stored at DWC.

Don't know if the deal is still on though. As a side note, the hull written off during the Dubai crash landing was one of the frames originally included in the deal.

henryc41 Jan 5, 2018 2:19 am

So you mean EMQ EMR EMT EMV EMX will be joining Cathay Pacific soon? Thank you

I highly doubt Cathay would take planes that old.

ffman999 Jan 5, 2018 9:50 pm

Forgive me if this is not the right thread. But would airplanes like ECT have an old ICE system (like non wide screen) because of their age? Or do they get updates during C-check?

They have in the past, and these aircraft are well taken care of, however I do not believe that the deal is still on as I have heard nothing off it for many months.

All ECx frames have digital widescreen except ECB.

Does anybody knows where are EK 777/300ER A6-EBA and A6-EBL? Both are 2-class frames....but they are out of service since a long time.

Some sources tell they will leave the fleet to join "Rossiya Arlines".....together with EBP, EBS and EBT later.

777/200LR A6-EWA seems to be in maintenance and will be the first 777/200LR with Business (2x2x2) and Economy class only.

A6-EBA operated EK805/806 yesterday to/from JED. A6-EBL hasn't flown for a while. Chances are it's being prepared for return to the lessor. Planespotter does claim the frames will be going to Rossiya. Let's see...

ZRHMD11 Feb 10, 2018 12:56 pm

EK805/806 was yesterday operated by A380 A6-EOT....

I wonder if the insurance payout was better in the end?

And A6-END had a little accident at ISB this morning.

Why ENT? That's one of the newer ones isn't it? I've flown it a few times, one of the few regs I recognize immediately

DatBoi Feb 27, 2018 5:57 am

All the craft with the new ICE should be in the air imo.

A6-EBC, ECI, ECP, ECT, ENQ and ENS are also in storage.

Seems that A6-EBA is also leaving the EK fleet.

They are really taking <10 yr old birds out of service?

I don't know how EK decides which ones to store. Many frames from the A6-ENx series have been going in and out of storage recently .

They will be looking at hours. I guess they want to keep evenish hours on them given their age. Plus guess they will also look maintenance schedule and tie it all together.

Temporarily, they cycle them in and out, as pointed out most likely to do with maintenance schedules. Given the fleet size I wouldn't be surprised if they've also got a shortage of maintenance capacity so they schedule the aircraft that get placed in storage based on the next 3 months maintenance schedule so optimize capacity

Rossiya upcoming 77W from EK.

Routesonline confirmed that Rossiya will began flying 77W from May of this year and these planes will be delivered till September 2018. The plane I realized will be (32706, 32709, 32715, 32730 and 33501). I see 32709 is already painted and 32706, 33501 on their way for paint soon. 32715 and 32730 is still flying and likely till July of this year.

Yes they have already, EBA is now presumed to have been painted to Rossiya livery along with number 33501 (ex A6-EBD, VP-BIN). As I mention just earlier then, No 32715, 32730 is still active till July 2018. I don't think 32710 will go to Rossiya.

Does anyone know what kind of 777-300 Emirates is flying from EWR->ATH? I have a business-class flight in early October, and I'm curious if it'll get the new business seats. Is there a place online where I can see exactly which kind of 777-300 Emirates is flying?

Thanks.

You can always check here The EK Source - Emirates Airline Route Tracker.. Not a single flight to my knowledge has had the new J on this route. New J odds are excellent from IAH and DFW (and now FLL on the reconfigured 77L), good chance from BOS and ORD, SEA and MCO once in a while. EWR gets the older ULR 77W's

Thanks. That route tracker is great!

Yeah looks like Newark has all the older aircraft :(. I'm looking at airfleets.net and it looks like anything made after A6-EPY has the new business class. Is Emirates planning on getting any more new 777s in 2018?

ft101 Mar 25, 2018 2:39 pm

I'm looking at airfleets.net and it looks like anything made after A6-EPY has the new business class.Previously reported here that it's A6-EPV onwards. The easy way to tell is that these will have 306 or 312 Economy seats as opposed to 304/310 (although there are no 312 seat ones yet). The new Business Class seats were introduced at the same time.

A6-EPV and later models have the new J seat. I believe they have 11 left to be delivered through 2019. According to the spreadsheet, I can see at least 3 being delivered this year. Again, it is very hard to say if and new deliveries will go to EWR even with the direct flight or any US destinations for that matter, as they will have the new F cabin too.

It has been over 6 months since A6-EUZ arrived. Anyone in the know on when we can expect A6-EV_?

ZRHMD11 Apr 17, 2018 11:10 am

EK is still waiting for A6-EUU and A6-EUW....both are 3 class frames stored in Toulouse.

I believe the next to join the fleet will be A6-EVA and A6-EVB...both are configured in 2 class.

ZRHMD11 Apr 18, 2018 2:38 am

EK postponed the delivery of some A380 last year.....it was published everywhere.

A6-EUS, EUT and EUV were also stored during a couple of months, but they have been finally delivered.

The last two in storage, A6-EUU and A6-EUW shall be delivered this year.

No change from last week.

ZRHMD11 Apr 25, 2018 11:54 am

I believe is for temporary storage....the same as we see with the B777....going and coming back from DWC.
