Good Morning all, a man just handed a picture of A6-EBV which was now in Azur Air that I found in his IG today. This livery must be different compared to VQ-BZY.

Post 289 on this very thread may help. ;)

Yeah me too, at least can see only the livery on this plane. One thing is that this 2 class 777 are one of the 9 77W due to returned once it's leasing from AerCap has expired. The history chart of EK's 77W's retirements/expiry are A6-EBD expired in May 2017. A6-EBA and EBL has expired last March, A6-EBP has expired last June, A6-EBS and EBT has expired last September and A6-EBV has expired earlier this month. So these 777 must have already ended it's 12-13 years life with Emirates and flies for another airline e.g Rossiya takes a former A6-EBA, EBL, EBP, EBS, EBT and Azur Air takes former A6-EBD, EBV. Another is EBF and EBH which will be retired around 2019 or so. But I don't know what's going to be the fate of EBX, EBZ and ECB (all 2007 made) even the 15 of the 3 class 77W's with ICE after these 9 were already completely retired but it seems it will see another year of flying until probably the 777X arrives.

WilliamSudarpo Oct 27, 2018 5:59 pm

Well today is the start of October 28, I see that A6-EOC is operating for Osaka Inaugural. EOC is the first A380 wearing the Blue EXPO 2020 livery.

Also, B777-300ER (A6-ENX) went into storage at DWC in August, and still hasn't returned yet. It's the only 300ER that's still parked there.

And EMX might be in the maintenance now or position to DWC? According to CX's result it says that these 2 773 will be flying for them in 2019. Also, EGO is now in the maintenance and it may take 2 weeks there.

It's the post where there is an attempted explanation of the different A30 types. :)

I wish EK didn't remove the 1000th 777 special livery from EGO.

Yeah that 1000th 777 special livery is one of the best.

A6-EOQ now becomes the second A380 to have the blue livery of EXPO 2020

A6-EDA was delivered on 29-July-2008, so we're 10 years in. SQ got rid of their first ones at 10 years but those were leased iirc

Was that the last with SkyCruisers?

I remember the SkyCruiser seat being introduced by EK and how much more comfortable they were compared to the old sleeperette ones in F. Fond memories. RIP SkyCruiser :(

HiFly? Delta likes used frames too...

I am not sure I fully understand EK needing the A380 line to be open - so they get new frames, but what about the ones they need to retire? Does having the line open simply anchor the price for the secondary market?

That, but also availability of spare parts and maintaining the tooling for them. If there's no need for new A380s Airbus will eventually change the tooling and utilise the space for other more in-demand models. To continue producing parts for the A380 will become too expensive eventually. Especially large parts like doors, gears, hydraulics, if an A380 gets hit by a catering truck the door might need replacing. Who's going to manufacture that door and at what price?

WilliamSudarpo Nov 2, 2018 8:13 am

During this week, the success for the A380 to arrive in Osaka and Hamburg for their first regular service. Also, changed includes the 777 with New First Class seen in HAM and HND this week as well.

And today A6-EOP (A380) has been already away from maintenance few weeks ago and now it's gone into storage as well.

Here's another thing about the A380 thread: A6-EVA, EVB were both build in 2014 and originally for SkyMark and never taken up, however it appears that both A380 is featured in 2 class. EVA already in service and EVB is still on hold for delivery. EVC and onward has no configuration details yet.

After EVB, all A380s for the foreseeable future (up to EVJ at least) will be 3-class.

does ek have the most consistent fleet out there?

Amongst long haul airlines, I would say yes. But overall some LCCs like Ryanair are even more consistent.

Are the A380 with new lounges operated on CDG-DXB ?
I've never seen this new lounge, and would love to !

Thanks

There are only a couple of 3-class A380s with the new lounge. Most are 2 class. So, in theory it's possible, but unlikely.

WilliamSudarpo Nov 15, 2018 5:32 am

Well, A6-EBV is now away from DXB and now prepares for Azur Air in HKG.

WilliamSudarpo Nov 15, 2018 5:42 am

Just after 5 days of maintenance, EBX is now flying back as EK338 to Cebu/Clark. No idea what their maintenance looks there. In addition we saw the Year of Zayed A380 A6-EUV in BIA (Bahrain International Airshow) this week and it's still there as of today. EEM is now goes into storage at the same time. Most of EK fleet is now in storage except for the 2 class 777/A380 airframe.

WilliamSudarpo Nov 15, 2018 7:14 pm

Update: A6-EBF, EBH which I said it will be retired next year and go to Azur Air but unfortunately it is going to Royal Flight next year. This is one the 2 77W which will come from EK next year. No mention about the last 3 77W (EBX, EBZ, ECB) now.

WilliamSudarpo Nov 17, 2018 10:50 pm

A6-EVB is began to enter service today as flight to CPH (EK151). Yes, as I told you, it is the 2 class configuration.

ZRHMD11 Dec 1, 2018 3:35 am

A380 A6-EUC isn`t in storage anymore….back to service EK55 DXB-DUS.

What we know today is that the current oldest 777 A6-EBB is went back in storage and another one from fleet is now back from storage.

WilliamSudarpo Dec 13, 2018 6:14 am

Today the last 77W is now delivered, 6 of the upcoming 77W as found in Wiki earlier today was now converted as an options not a firmed order.

Anyone know the type for the options? 777-8/9 or 787-10? I highly doubt that EK would pick up any new 77W when 777X is just a couple years away, unless said 77W was at a crazy steep discount.

Don't think it means they get to choose an alternative type. Just that they get to choose at a later stage what to do with these

Any news on the upcoming withdrawal of A6-EBH and A6-EBF?

There is a report that one of the Russian charter airline eg Nordwind, Royal Flight or Azur is taking these 2 77W's. We are not sure weather the last 3 EBX, EBZ and ECB will follow.
