If is is new F as well, you can of course see it, but there are a number of 77Ws which have new J but still the 8 old F suites.
And be aware that the type of aircraft is NEVER guaranteed.

Does EK ever use their old J product on the LAX route?

Frames newer than and including A6-EPV (i.e. alphabetically after that one) are new J, EQH onwards have new F.
I don't have a paid flightradar24 subscription, so I can't look further back than 4 days. These were EPZ, EQG, EQF and EPZ again, so all new J / old F.
That's a very small sample, but 100% new J. I leave it to you to use statistical understanding to draw conclusions / make decisions. If you pay for a flightradar24 subscription, you can look back up to 3 years (for a business subscription). You van go back to long before Covid-19 at a price....

I personally have no problem with the very slight angle of the old product, but I have never been on a new J frame. Have been on plenty of A380's with flat beds, so I know what it feels (and in F on 77W and A380). But we all feel different about these things.

"Ever" is a big word, in this context. It is important to realise that of the 130 77W's in the fleet, only 21 have new J (of which 9 have new F as well).

I have flown the old J a couple of times on 4 and 7 hr routes and found it became uncomfortable after a couple hours.
Now I have to choose between booking the EK nonstop and hoping for the best, or sticking with AF J connecting through CDG.
