Airbus A350-900: 21

Airbus A380-800: 116
  • 49 equipped with Premium Economy. Retrofit to other frames in progress
Boeing 777-300ER: 117
  • 43 equipped with Premium Economy and updated J cabin. Retrofit to other frames in progress
Boeing 777-200LR: 10

Total fleet size = 264

With the retirement of the 2-Class 777-300ER's, how long are we from the possible retirement of older 3-Class frames?

EK are retiring only the older 2-class frames..they still have 16 frames in the fleet.some are just 4 years old.

11 out of the remaining 15 A6-EBx aircraft are leased from GECAS.

Seeing as how EK is expecting deliveries of 777-9s next year, and A330-900neos to start in 2021, they might start retiring the older 3-class 77Ws around the same time.
Actually, 10 of the remaining 15 A6-EBx are leased from GECAS. A6-ECB is leased from Aercap and not GECAS. This plane will be retired in the end of May before flying with Royal Flight this summer. All 2 class airframes will only be the one made from 2010 and onwards.

Is there a way to know ahead of time whether I'll have the new or old 777 business class? Flying DXB-SEA in a few weeks.

No. But what do you mean by new? The newest (still 2-3-2)? Assume old and you won't be disappointed
