This probably belongs in the CX forum, rather than the El Al maintence and mechanical failures.

Perhaps, but there are many general TLV related posts in this forum, and I would think that the asphalt collapsing underneath a plane at Ben Gurion airport is relevant. Maybe this thread should be El Al and TLV incidents.

Or we have a separate thread for all other TLV related incidents, because otherwise the LY related ones kind of get lost.

4X-ECC returned back from Warsaw on Friday. Does anyone know what EL Al's plans are for it? Is it still repairable and useable?

Aircraft still not back in use.
I wonder if this is due to this accident, or happens to be planned maintenance?

Still not in use, has 4X-ECC been scrapped as it's too costly to repair?

Very surprising as the aircraft was safe to fly from WAW-TLV, also doubt a damaged landing gear is enough to write-off a B777.

ELAL doesn't seem to be utilizing their heavy fleet to full capacity probably due to all the new 787 aircraft. Lets see what happens now in the Peach season.

Okay turns out after all of this that 4X-ECC is doing LY15 right now from TLV-BOS. Must've needed some pretty big repairs before it went back in, and they might've done some large checks before putting it back in the air.

LY flight to WAW this morning makes an emergency landing

LY563 operated by a SunDor aircraft (for some reason) returned to TLV 24 minutes after take off. Apparently the crew had to shut down an engine, and return to TLV ASAP.
My brother was on the flight and says they did not seem to be circling to dump fuel.

Apparently the purser seemed pretty nervous, and a "brace for impact" announcement was made, which seems pretty dramatic!

Edited to add: Passengers just told aircraft cannot be fixed right now, so new departure time is 15:00 on an aircraft arriving at 14:00.
