Here's a report (in Hebrew) by an Ha'aretz journalist that happened to be on the flight fromTLV to HKG. Horrible.

LY317 TLV-LHR was delayed 3 hours due to a technical issue on the 789 (flaps apparently) yesterday, then took off and turned around 2 hours into the flight and returned to TLV.

Replacement flight left today at 14:00 operated by a 777.

Friend of mine was on the above flight. He told me that the plane taxied to the runway and then stopped. The pilot noticed an issue with a flap so turned the plane round and brought it to a stand. Passengers were told to get off. After 1.5 hours they were put back on board. After takeoff, the pilot went down the aisle to have a look at the wing. He came over the pa and said that the plane had to return to TLV. The plane landd safely and all the passengers were put up in various hotels, including the Crowne Plaza in Jerusalem. A new departure time was set for 8 AM, but the plane only left at 11.

I stand corrected then. I was told it was 14:00 (didn't actually check).

If I can recall, that was what my friend said. But I am happy to accept defeat.

4X-EAN operating LY 393 to BCN diverted to RHO on Monday (16 April). Anyone know why? It continued on to BCN afterwards (and then back to TLV as a delayed LY 394) so I'm guessing medical issue?
