LY Flights ex-NYC on 04 Jan and 06 Jan
Anybody know what happened to LY 002 on Thursday 04 Jan?
According to the LY website, they cancelled the flight and it was to depart on 06JAN at 18:55....but then an LY official on Sat night told me that the plane for 002 never landed at JFK (it was inbound as 04Jan's 007), that it diverted to EWR and was sent back to TLV empty. Anybody know if that's true? I ask because the LY site indicated that it did leave JFK on 06JAN.
Also - what happened to the 026 on 06JAN? Somebody I know from LY claims it departed.....yet the LY website says it was cancelled and only departs today (08JAN). Was the Sat Nite EWR flight indeed cancelled? If so, why? I know there were all sorts of issues at JFK, but EWR wasn't having those residual weather problems. So maybe it was a problem with the 787?
Anyone?

There have been loads of weather problems on the East Coast. Due to the extreme cold airports have been unable to clear runways and gates to allow full capacity. ( and of course, JFK turning into an indoor pool didn't help there) I know my nephew is hoping his 016 from Boston initially departing on time on 7/1, than at 02:00 on 8/1 is now, hopefully leaving at 16:00 on 8/1.

JFK dealt with tremendous cancelations, worse actually than EWR, in the storm. And don't be surprised to see more - just as they tried getting back on their feet, water main exploded Saturday or Sunday flooding the terminal (4).

EDIT - Now I understand why Ha'modia (an ultra-orthodox newspaper) covers it - Meir Porush, the education vice-minister is on the plane (together with another high ranking ultra-orthodox official).

And now it was last night's LY075's turn to go tech, and strand passengers in HKG for over 15 hours until it was fixed and fit to fly.
