Or 20€ for TLV-Random ryan air destination and another 20€ from random ryan air destination to Eilat, cheaper than a direct Arkia/Israir flight

Only useful if HBO, otherwise the baggage charges quickly add up (plus the extra time needed for the connection). An alternative would be using avios for KRK-LHR on BA. 4/4.5k plus £17.50.

Flights from Eilat and TLV starting in the fall.
Ryanair will launch flights to Tel Aviv from:
Baden-Baden (twice a week)
Gdansk (twice a week)
Krakow (twice a week)
Milan Bergamo (4 times weekly)
Paphos (daily). (already starting in April)
Poznan (twice a week)
Wroclaw (twice a week).

Flights to Eilat will be from:
Baden-Baden (twice a week)
Berlin (twice a week)
Brussels (twice a week)
Frankfurt-Hahn (twice a week)
Gdansk (twice a week)
Milan Bergamo (twice a week)
Poznan (twice a week)
Warsaw (twice a week)
In addition to the existing flights from Bratislava, Budapest, Krakow, and Kaunas.
This is the best news I have heard all week. Especially Milan!

Not sure how you can compare.

TLV is 25km from Tel Aviv, while Ovda is 60km from Eilat.

And that means absolutely nothing, my point is airports are almost never inside the city, but if you want to stick to distances - STN is ~40miles from London, NRT is roughly the same distance from Tokyo...

Agree with clubman here.

It's not just about distance. Getting from TLV to Tel Aviv is extremely easy (there's a train, there are buses, etc.). Getting to Eilat from Ovda is not as easy and much longer.

Not to mention there already is an airport in Eilat.

Why not? Egged have a bus route that aligns with planes arrivals/departures

I think you all miss the point that all of these flights will fly into the new Ramon airpot, which is only 19km from Eilat.

Arkia adds new destinations

http://www.globes.co.il/en/article-A...ons-1001175650

Can someone translate the English from this article for me? It doesnt make sense. Such as this statement:
Passover flights to Salonika, Greece, which will cost $350 starting in June
(How can there be Passover flights which will cost $350 in June?)

Or this:
three weekly flights to Stansted Airport in London, starting at $600, during Passover and starting in May
(If it starts in May is it during passover? - ok this one at least maybe meant to say that they will fly during Passover this route, and then start it regularly in May.)

LOL, my guess would be that they will operate those flights in Passover, and then stop flying until May/June
