I was also initially surprised to see Vietnam, but then it made sense, with so many Israeli heading to south-east Asia and many asians now going to Israel as tourists it makes sense. My guess is no more than 2 or 3 times per week, but that's still a real step forward!

If these end up being codeshares with Vietnam Airlines, it will be interesting to see if: 1) this can be booked as a skyteam award ticket and 2) if it will be possible to book ongoing travel to the rest of Asia on Vietnam Airlines and if this means that somehow LY is getting closer to Skyteam...

Ya, it said that the routes have been approved. But LY hasn't actually said anything about the routes as if they're adding them or not...

That I didn't get in the article. Why can they only be operated as a codeshare with VN? Does that mean VN has to be the operating carrier?

Also, I doubt LY is inching closer to joining ST, if that's what you meant. Even if there are multiple ST airlines they're close with, they also have codeshares with OW and *A, so I don't see it necessarily as an "approval" of ST, so to speak.

It's much cheaper, especially in business. In particular on Sunday/Thursday. And I can combine stopovers in Germany.

my question what planes does LY have available for the possible routes to Vietnam?
I know that for Grenoble all they have to do is upgrade a 737 to a 738 or 738 to 739 and they have the plane for it.

I don't believe any of it. They said years ago flights to Delhi were starting. They applied for MLE. They are got at creating hopes and dreams.

I'm surprised that no one's yet filled the void, either TLV-DEL or TLV-BOM. Either of those could be a profitable route. Lots of leisure traffic, and now more business traffic.

BA might replace the 767 with a A320

I think its a bad idea for the LHR-TLV route and I really hope that it wont happen.

Bad idea? It's an horrendous idea!

I b*** hell hope it's nonsens...

There is a big difference between CDG,ATH and TLV, the two formar are operated with a S/H 767 while TLV is L/H.
