When I can find a good Jewish Deli, a Reuben for sure. So few and far between around Carlsbad. Yay for Milton's in Del Mar being on the way home from work though.

I vote for any of the Vietnamese sandwiches (chicken, pork, pate) with the lemongrass and cilantro from the Ba Le chain in Hawaii or fried oyster poboy dressed.

Being from PHL I also love a good hoagie or cheesesteak but only here in SE PA.

Tuna on wheat or sourdough (depending on where I'm at) with provolone, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, olives and a dash of salt and pepper.

If I'm home, I'll toast the bread beforehand.

Creamy peanut butter and backberry jam if I am on the road
At home, grilled cheese with crispy bacon

Reuben (or a Rachel).

Oh, and I have to get Dijon mustard for the side of fries. :D

The Italian Hoagie or submarine - which is getting near impossible to find outside of the Philadelphia area

Since I live on the Left Coast, I make my own (secret is in the peppers and sandwich dressing of oil & vinegar) - bread is very important - a good baguette will do

(no chain fastfood copycats allowed!!!)

You're out of luck in SD, but LA has several good Jewish places - I like Langer's at Macarthur Park.
