Catfish Po Boy--fully dressed, as served by Lagniappe Restauant in NE Portland. Better than anything I've had in N'Awlins, even at Mother's. Yummmmmm!

2nd Place: Meatball sandwich, as served by Maggiano's in Philly.

Reubens are tied with a great pulled pork sandwich.

:)

Corned beef on rye at a good deli in NYC. Hmmmm. ;)

Enjoyed one at Junior's in Grand Central Terminal after a walking tour of the historic building last time I was there in March and glad I did both. :)

I only eat red meat once a year. With my Doc's permission, I have a pastrami Reuben at the Stage Deli Manhattan every year for my birthday (or thereabout). I can't eat it all, but I make a pretty respectable dent. ;)

Other than an occasional grilled cheese sandwich to comfort myself when I am not feeling 100%, that annual Reuben is the only sandwich I ever eat.

My fav is a tuna sandwich with black olives, from Subway. Nothing else, just the black olives.

I've recently become quite fond of flatbread with hummus, tomatoes, cucumbers and onions. YUM!

Not by doctor's orders but my own choosing, I only eat red meat two or three times a year. One of those special occasions is reserved for the burnt ends chopped pork sandwich at Oklahoma Joe's Barbecue in Kansas City, Kansas. Oh my God, it's one of those rare things in life that I would choose over sex.

A Philly Cheese Steak in Philly and nowhere else.

Otherwise a Rueben is a close second!

JayBrian Dec 31, 2006 11:20 am

Being from Philly I should say cheesesteak but I usually only have them when out of towners (flyertalkers :) ) visit and ask for one.

My real favorite is a corned beef special (Kosher corned beef, coleslaw and russian dressing on Jewish rye bread).

swag Dec 31, 2006 11:41 am

My top 2:

New York deli-style corned beef on rye, with a bit of Russian.
New Orleans style fried shrimp po-boy, dressed but no tomato.

Cream cheese and lox on a real bagel (i.e., not Noah's/Einsteins).
