So dumplings, dumplings and pot stickers. :) You forgot to tell us how many. :p

The number you've been eating lately can't be healthy. <speaking as he pulls out a carton of broth to boil some dumplings himself>

Out of curiosity, fish or pork? I find the pork tend to taste better but a lot of the food courts here like to sell the fish type.

Next you'll graduate to frosted-flakes.

That’s all I could smell at the winery this afternoon. Nothing makes me hungrier than the aroma of frying onions and peppers.

StuckInYYZ Oct 23, 2021 6:50 pm

Badly improvised chicken kuthu roti.

Got some roti prata from above mentioned south indian take-out joint. Rough chopped, added some diced red onion, some chopped hot peppers (not sure what the species name is but they have some kick) and mixed in some HK-style scrambled eggs as well as just mixing egg into the thing and then tossed in some shredded leftover popeye's chicken, skin and all. Added some coconut curry sauce (more curry, less coconut) and then stirred it until it appeared "dry enough"

Tasted interesting... next time I'll have to add a bit of indian curry to the mix and see if I can find the proper peppers they use here. That and use a bigger wok (no flat-top).

While reading this, I had a flashback to Tsukiji market... I was last there a few years before it closed. I remember having fresh sushi that morning for breakfast!

Not quite that. But if you're going to buy tuna and cook it rare, quality matters.

I get $10 on DL and $5 for HiltonHonors cards. They both end 12/31/21. Weird promo, total waste for Amex. Which Amex owner doesn’t buy food outside of a grocer?

$5 monthly Amex credit is for the no annual fee Hilton cards. If you pay the $95 or whatever a year, you get $10 a month.

I always thought it was a Filipino tradition about noodles on your Birthday, but see it may be an Asian culture thing. However, per my wife's family it is supposed to be "long noodles for long life." That is why we always have Pancit Canton, vs. Pancit Guisado on birthdays. The noodles pictured above are very short and would not be eaten on a birthday or else be considered a short life span ahead,

lhrsfo Oct 25, 2021 4:14 am

Last night it was Tom Kine's grilled and roasted venison filet, with beetroots. It's accompanied by an incredibly rich shallot, tomato and garlic sauce, all quite delicious. I decided to drink my last bottle of Ch Brown Lamartine 2010 with it - its 23 predecessors have been not great but this tasted fantastic with the venison, and then it was an unhappy combination with the brie and pecorino cheese afterwards.
