We had a late lunch (Halal Guys) so skipped dinner. Though we did have cheese and crackers at 10 pm.

Before we went grocery shopping today, I told Mr. CE we needed to get more cookies. Actual conversation:

Him: No! No more cookies. We shouldn't be eating them.
Me: Fine, I'll just hide them
Him: You can't hide anything in this house* from me! I'll find it all.
Me: Really? Because we've had Jeni's Ice Cream (his favorite) in the house for the last month and you haven't found it.

(We only have two combo fridge-freezers, so it's amazing that conversation was 10 hours ago and he still apparently hasn't found it. But I think he forgot again.)

* He's a peanut butter addict, and at our old condo bought single-serving PBs and then gave me permission to hide them around the house so he couldn't eat them all at once. I had to keep a running list of where I'd hid it. Among the spots -- in the guestroom bedside table, in the water pan of our old-school radiators (this was in the summer), in the back of his closet, in the linen closet, in the wine fridge and in knick-knack accessory boxes in the living room.

Hot scorcher supper leftovers
poached salmon (cooked this morning and fridged for a cold supper)
raw fresh organic vegetables - radish carrot cuke celery
leftover fusilli with meatballs & meat sauce
cold hummus & pita

waffle cone with TJ’s chocolate chip & Robbins peanut butter chocolate
Bowl with Robbins Rocky Road & Haagen Dasz chocolate
waffle cone with Jaimito, tiny bit of Haagen dasz chocolate, and B&J milk & cookies

omg it’s still so hot. At least the air is back to moderate.
I know I kvetch about the hot heat & really bad air and I’m fully aware and thankful that I’m not living in a tent or inoperable car like I see everywhere both in my city and elsewhere in the media. And no queue for a food bank with these weather conditions.

Wish I had picked up a bottle of Suntory whiskey the last time I was at Costco. Would have been a bawler finish to a good day.

the Suntori Toki $39.99 or a different one? I miss the days of Kavalan there as it’s so much better. I barely finished the Toki. I have a Kavalan and will open it when I finish the fruity liqueurs...

and it’s still a scorcher. 84 at 9p. Blah.

say what?

yes, it is stifling hot. unbearable but like you said, we are lucky to have a house and fans and not living on the streets.
gaobest, you really need to try the Private Selection ice cream at Ralph's...it is obviously their store brand but it is amazing. I bought the Danali Moose tracks last week--giant chunks of really good chocolate. I used to be a brand name snob but this stuff is so good. Do you have Ralph's up there?

Nice. I've tried them twice and was not impressed at all.

We lack Ralph’s and I’m just sticking with Safeway. Dealing with their promos and “membership” is enough. I lack time to try Lucky’s and I still eschew WF because of entry queue experiences. I miss nothing there and i get my luxury supermarket things from Gus’s Market once a week. Just poached the salmon earlier on Sunday morning as I knew it would be good for a cold supper.

I bet bra lover and CBlaisd can grill their own burgers better. When I fetched the fresca at Target, I got the super duper burger food for my family but I refused to get anything for myself because I knew I can grill a better burger.
actually on Saturday I fetched chicken enchiladas for our pool host and still didn’t get myself anything. I went to the classic taqueria that was always fun before and after concerts at a mega indie dive bar, where I loved their tacos and food so much, and I STILL didn’t get myself anything. Just the enchiladas for our host. Omg.

From Thursday-Sunday, I was given my niece and nephew so I had to make several different meals, but this morning I was able to smoke a 4# brisket flat along with split chicken breasts and chicken thighs.

Brisket was on for six hours and Mom said, " It needed to be on for at least one more hour."

gaobest heat dementia.

He loves to tease me about my lack of my favorite ice cream in Indonesia. At least I have pretty nice weather in BDO at the moment. Jakarta was pretty toasty when we left yesterday.

Kroger’s house brands will often be at all their different stores. So, for their private label ice cream, check to see if there is one of these brands in your ‘hood.

Kroger Co. Family of Stores includes:
  • Baker’s
  • City Market
  • Dillons
  • Food 4 Less
  • Foods Co
  • Fred Meyer
  • Fry’s
  • Gerbes
  • Harris Teeter
  • King Soopers
  • Jay C Food Store
  • Kroger
  • Pay-Less Super Markets
  • QFC
  • Ralphs
  • Smith’s Food and Drug

The Habit burger is not as good as The Counter, but their Ahi Tuna sandwich is fantastic, YUM! Brand owned or not.

Soy sauce and garlic pork chops wrapped in bacon, grilled over hickory charcoal
Corn on the cob cooked in foil on the grill
Asparagus and sugar snap peas cooked on the grill
Canned biscuits
Strawberries/blueberries/cool whip

kipper Sep 7, 2020 4:55 pm

Chicken quesadillas with Fairlife Cookies and Cream Ice Cream for dessert. The ice cream was lousy.

Did a tofu version of beef rendang (my wife doesn't eat beef). I tried to supplement the curry with extra fat (coconut oil and peanut oil, primarily, with a little butter for the animal fat), but it was still a bit dry given there wasn't all that collagen and fat rendering out.
