Actually, it was the opposite, he is Jewish, but as far as I can tell, doesn't eat Kosher. The show was Hoch and Crowder, and the guest was Gino Toretta.

I was wondering which of the Heisman Trophy winners it was. Thanks!

I have had a bagel with cream cheese and grape jelly. That is about as strange as I got. When I worked in travel I learned to occasionally get a roll or bagel with cream cheese and bacon when I was in a rush and didn't have time for a BEC. One of my colleagues said I must be from Brooklyn, though I am not.

Couple of things. Ketchup on eggs only on a BEC. I don’t like it on plain scrambled eggs.
The first time that I saw someone spread grape jelly on cream cheese on a bagel, I thought that she was possessed by the Devil. I later found out that I wasn’t wrong in my assessment.
Finally, thanks for the shoutout for Flushing! The absolute best Southeast Asian food in NYC. And next door in Jackson Heights, the best South and Central American restaurants in NYC. Queens baby!!!

Well that changed quickly  Breakfast was oatmeal with blueberry syrup and cinnamon.

I actually never tried ketchup on a BEC. I usually get it with black pepper and hot sauce (and more often than not, turkey bacon or just turkey).

Lots of great places in Flushing. Jackson Heights is equally amazing. You can get some of the best Tibetan and Nepali food there. Usually I get pho in Jackson Heights and this was my first time trying it in Flushing.

A chile verde super burrito. It was about a foot long or maybe more, so two meals worth. So good. The meat was one inch chunks, tender, and not dry. This is definitely one of my deserted island foods.

PS - People in my local foods group said their chips are normally tri-colored like the Mexico flag 🇲🇽, not Christmas colors.

I have to ask as this was discussed today on a local radio sports talk show:

If going to an Italian restaurant, and not a high end one, would you order Spaghetti and Meatballs?

The two hosts, one from Jewish heritage, the other an African American retired NFL player got into a discussion, where one said yes, the other said heck no. They brought on a retired Heisman Trophy winner (a full-blooded Italian) who after discussing his topics, was asked and he basically stated he never ate this in a restaurant, even when he was a kid. He would order a meatball if the restaurant was known for it as a side, but never with Spaghetti.

What do you guys and gals think? What do you usually order?

I would order whatever I felt like eating as long as it is on the menu. I try not to do a lot of rules.

Instead of flounder, I had some tuna with red wine vinegar. I'll make the flounder tonight along with a baked potato or sweet potato.

Flounder did not defrost quickly enough, so I had a can of chicken noodle soup and a sweet potato for dinner. Now having some bran flakes.

Just curious, what's kaya? I've never seen or heard the term before.
