I wouldn't think it would be good, but I'll take your word for it.

No, that one had the strip of bacon on it. I should have heated up the bacon one.

I remember my first donut with bacon at Voodoo in Portland. Thankfully their success generated Star and other pdx donut shops, which has spread nationwide. That donut store at MPS was so amazing upon arrival in March. What a way to arrive in MPS, possibly on UAL. I think our return was DL and no donut shop in that terminal (but japanese and shake shack). What an awesome airport - in 2017 we only had the terminal with SY which was much less gorgeous.

Have been enjoying these - trying not to finish all in 2 / 3 days .

Caramel Mixed nuts and Black Forest tarts from Tarte

Hokkaido milk pies

Lana chocolate fudge cake

These chocolate fudge cakes usually come rectangular , round or square depending on size / weight ordered .
So was pleased that this was in the display when popping by the second time to pick the cake up a couple of hours after checking late morning if they had any extra cakes for the day , snagged this though was not pre - ordered , as it was actually available . And as it turns out worked out well . Did not realise our friends were celebrating their wedding anniversary !

The Hokkaido milk pies come in boxes of 5 and we had 2 boxes to share amongst 6 , but the others only had 3 . This after a rather huge spread of roast chicken , wagyu steak , stir fried kai lan , pineapple fried rice , fried hor fun , .. and the list is too long . Forgot photos as we tucked right in .

Gorgeous cakes! I bought a cinnamon roll at the farmers market and will eat it for dessert.

asian pear - also bought at farmers market. Not as sweet as desired but I’m glad I bought it. First Asian pear since 2019 or even 2018!

Am I the only one who, at first glance, thought the left one was full of olives? I would eat that Black Forest one in a sitting.

Made NYT recipe "classic scones" this morning. Afterwards, I got a text from a neighbor down the street, wondering if I had walked the dogs yet - that she had something for me. I texted her as I approached her house on the way back from the walk. She came out with - you guessed it - scones she had just made. There are worse ways to spend a morning.

Boring here, as I'm trying to minimize going out as much as possible given the covid spike:

Lunch today is Turkey and havarti on wheat, with sides of broccoli salad and pesto pasta salad.

whered you get the turkey? Is it from your roasted turkey or deli turkey?
i want to figure out how to make roast beef for sandwiches. My child now loves roast beef sandwich on baguette with zero toppings. It makes sense - why spoil the taste of roast beef further than the bread already affects it?

As I'm sure you know, the French eat a baguette with simply butter and a few slices of ham. Of course, their reasoning is why spoil the taste of the bread .

Making a roast beef is fairly simple, as long as you have a good meat thermometer. You can Google just about any recipe, but the NYT has a fairly easy one. The REAL problem with roast beef is getting those thin slices that are so perfect for a sandwich. If you're not going to spring for a meat slicer (good ones are pricey), I'd say just continue buying sliced roast beef from the deli. I've thought about buying a slicer a few times, but just don't think it's worth the money for the number of times we'd use it.

Plus a meat slicer is a real space hog and is heavy. It is not something that you are likely to leave on the counter to make an occasional sandwich for a kid.
Ha...not many things as good as a ham sandwich in France with butter on a baguette....the butter, the ham, & of course the bread=the trifecta.
