Well, I'd never had a McRib before, but took note of the newspaper articles and other fuss made this year. I was at O'Hare on Thursday waiting for a plane and there was a McD's right across from the gate. So I tried one.

Yuk. I love BBQ of all types, including ribs. I also like pork products like sausage of many kinds. But I thought this was pretty gross - don't understand the appeal.

I don't eat a huge amount of junk food, though I do like BK burgers (Whopper with mustard/lettuce/tomato/pickles only) and am ok with Wendy's burgers. There's something about McD's food that just doesn't appeal to me, including their burgers.

Not true or at least not in their ground beef. My company used to supply them with their beef and they buy nothing but pure ground beef. And they're very picky about the quality, trust me.

Shifting back to the McRib topic, here's a blog article about that product.

Over the years, Flyertalk has influenced me to do things I would never normally do. Now comes this thread.

What a horrible sandwich. Must be the Omni cons/libs that are pressuring everyone to join in the fun.

I had one today for the first time in this round of appearances and I have to say that it was not as good as I remembered. The pork was tender, but anything that processed would have to be. It could have used some grilling first and perhaps the grill marks would have helped the aesthetics. The BBQ sauce was also a bit off from what I remembered...not all that tangy and definitely less sweet than I recalled. Things that did work for me was the softness of the hoagie roll, the pickles, and the onions.

Not sure that I'll have another one this time around. Maybe next time just to see if this was a one-off experience.

Best regards,

I've eaten two this go round.

The first one, I reheated.
The second one, I ate fresh.

I have to say that I liked the reheated one better. The sauce was cold on the fresh one, and not as good.

I don't get it either. "Mechanically separated" may look unattractive, but it is physically little different from whole cuts.

Exactly, feel free to add fake grill marks, slather it in a wonderful McCrack sauce and put it on a bun for me to enjoy.

Yup. I don't care if it's pig, turkey, chicken, pheasant or steer. I've even eaten wild boar and deer. Sushi, carpaccio and who knows what else. I do draw the line at horse meat, however.

+1 if its meat....I'll probably eat it (I've never tried horse but I'd give it a go!)

Antelope
Deer
Elk
Moose
Pheasant
Chucker
Wild Boar
Lamb
Turkey
Chicken
Snake
Alligator

I'm sure there are many more that I'm not thinking of but they are mostly all tasty!

Heck I've even done a few things like dried grasshopper, frog legs, snails......I'll give almost anything a go once!

They do have the chicken nuggets, they're about the same consistency at times. Little chewy and a touch too moist inside.

Had one for lunch today at ORD. Surprisingly, the McRib meal at $5.25 is the cheapest meal on the entire McDonalds menu here.
