Do you honestly believe they add sugar to the meat? Care to offer one bit of proof of this?

I was told by a registered dietitian.

So I guess by eating fast food, your waistline does not expand? Sugar is placed in so many foods these days to make them taste good. No, I have no proof MD puts sugar in their burgers, but I believe the RDs at the Cleveland Clinic are looking out for me.

You know why Papa Johns pizza is so good? Their sauce is loaded with sugar. I am friends with a store manager. Trust me, I used to love their pizza.

I have changed my ways. I was a major diabetic on insulin for 18 years. Today I am thinner, healthier, and not on meds at all. No, I didn't have bariatric surgery. I did it through diet and working out at a gym.

I used to weigh 300 pounds. Through Weight Watchers and exercise, I've lost almost 100 pounds. I've kept it off for almost 18 months now. I will still enjoy the occasional McDonald's hamburger or Culver's frozen custard or milkshake or even a nice beer or ale.

I don't eat the way I used to, no, but *no* food is verboten. It's all moderation and portion control.

Like I said upthread, for some reason having a hamburger at TGI Friday's is OK for a lot of people, but make it a McDonald's QPC and it's somehow evil. Even though the Friday's burger is bigger and likely has twice the calories and fat....

McDonald's would not advertise their meat as 100% USDA Grade A beef unless it was. Period.

I still don't trust any fast food place.

That weight loss is fantastic! I am following a high protein-low carb program. I am about 15 pounds from where I want to be. the RDs will start to "re-feed" me. WW is a great program. I don't eat out a lot, just sushi places for the most part. Shashimi is more like it (without the rice. I have never been a huge burger fan. My downfall was Italian pasta and sweets.

My main goal was to rid my self of insulin, meds, and diabetes. Time will only tell.... Again congrats on your accomplishment.

I thought I used to like the McRib. We were in a big hurry yesterday afternoon so, against my better judgement, we went to McDonalds. I was disappointed with my McRib - all the good flavor seemed to be coming from the barbeque sauce and onions. When I got a bite of mostly "pork", I didn't like the taste at all.

I too have undergone a weight loss via Weight Watchers. I'm 5 days away from Lifetime Member status. I dropped 58 pounds over 7 months from 209 to 151. In the process, I think my tastes have changed. I now eat mostly fruits and vegetables with a little seafood and poultry. I tried a package of Twizzlers on Halloween and wasn't as excited as I thought I would be. Previously, I'd have killed for a handful of Twizzlers. So maybe it's just me.

From the source... Verdict is Yes. Still, I'd guess the amount of sugar in the meat is negligible, compared to the amount in the sauce.

McRib Sandwich:
McRib Pork Patty, McRib Bun, McRib Sauce, Pickle Slices, Slivered Onions

McRib Pork Patty:
Pork, water, salt, dextrose, BHA and BHT and propyl gallate and citric acid (preservatives).

McRib Sauce:
Water, high fructose corn syrup, tomato paste, distilled vinegar, molasses, natural smoke flavor (plant source), food starch-modified, salt, sugar, spices, soybean oil, xanthan gum, onion powder, garlic powder, chili pepper, sodium benzoate (preservative), caramel color, beet powder.

McRib Bun:
Enriched flour (bleached wheat flour, malted barley flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamin mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), water, yeast, high fructose corn syrup, contains 2% or less of the following: salt, corn meal, wheat gluten, soybean oil, partially hydrogenated soybean and/or cottonseed oils, dextrose, sugar, malted barley flour, cultured wheat flour, calcium sulfate, ammonium sulfate, soy flour, dough conditioners (sodium stearoyl lactylate, datem, ascorbic acid, azodicarbonamide,
mono- and diglycerides, ethoxylated mono- and diglycerides, monocalcium phosphate, enzymes, guar gum, calcium peroxide), calcium propionate (preservative), soy
lecithin.

Oh, and there's no sign of sugar in the meat on their regular burgers, just 100% beef plus salt and pepper. (But look out for ketchup and the bun).

The seasoning on the angus burgers does include sugar.

I tried one last week. Thought it was nasty.

I did like the snack wrap I got though.

I don't see how the fact that this has sugar matters to those that don't eat it.

Again... make mine a double.
