I recently found karl strauss amber ale on sale at the market (never seen it before, great packaging) - it's actually quite good. In my fridge: Amber Bock, Unibroue (TJ Anniversary ale, 2009), Bell's Oberon, and Bell's 25th. Every time I get a visit from back home I ask for a sixer of oberon.

So happy that we are in Octoberfest season. Working off a couple sixers of Harpoon Octoberfest, my personal favorite this time of year.

12-pack of Sea Dog Blueberry Ale
12-pack of Shipyard Pumpkin Head
12-pack of Hacker-Pshorr Oktoberfest
12-pack of Paulaner Hefe-Weiss
6-pack of Franziskaner Hefe-Weiss Dunkel

It's gonna be a good weekend, Tater... :p

Just picked up Oerbier and had one tonight. One of the best I've ever tasted.

Others in fridge right now: Duvel.

Can anyone recommend a good pumpkin beer that's out now?

Here's a 2008 Chicago Sun-Times article on pumpkin beers that might give you some resources for pumpkin beers in the Chicago area. Last month a Lincoln Ave. bar named Delilah's had a festival of Oktoberfest and Pumpkin beers; they may still have some available to try. Ironically, Michigan's Jolly Pumpkin Brewing Co. does not make a pumpkin beer.

Not sure if they can get Dogfish Punk in Chi-town or not, but I had some of that last weekend and it was tasty. My first ever pumpkin beer. :o

DFH has been available in Chicago for several years. Their Punkin' Ale is usually available anywhere their year-round beers are also distributed.

Here's what WAS in my beer fridge that was consumed recently:

Choc Dubbel (& it was yummy! A great Belgian-style dubbel out of Oklahoma, wacky! Would totally get it again!)

And here's what's still in there:

Avery Old Jubilation sixer (haha, buying a winter warmer while wearing shorts...oh Texas.)
Redhook Eisbock

Most recently, a 6-er of Flying Dog Dogtoberfest, which I highly recommend. I'm sorely tempted to pick up a 6-er of their Raging B!tch IPA this weekend, however. I may keep the 6 pack carrier as a souvenir. :D

For what it's worth I thought I'd mention that Flying Dog's Raging B!tch Belgian IPA may be the best example of that hybrid style I've had.

I'm a big fan of the Smuttynose Pumpkin Ale.

Tons of it...and other Flying Dog varieties as well...at Central Market South. ^

Not sure if they have Xingu or not, though.

A 6-pack each of Tyskie and Lech. Hopefully it'll last until tomorrow. :)

St. Bernardus Prior 8
FiftyFifty Brewing Concentrated Evil
't Gaverhopke Extra
