Minimum connection time at AMS
Note: when determining the airline for MCT purposes, what counts is who markets the flight, not who operates it.

Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-KL: 50 minutes

Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-DL, DL-KL, or DL-DL: 25 minutes

Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, KL-KL or KL-DL: 90 minutes

Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, DL-KL or DL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-KL or DL-KL: 60 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Schengen Zone, KL-DL or DL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, DL-DL, DL-KL, or KL-DL: 50 minutes

Non-Schengen Zone to Non-Schengen Zone, KL-KL: anywhere from 40 minutes to 2 hours--it depends on the flight numbers and the dates. I've posted the raw output below to help you figure out which MCT will apply.

Is DL->KLM MCT changing this summer? In April a connection of 50 minutes is valid, but in August it is not (same flights).

I was looking at a layover in AMS of 70 minutes. I've been told it's do-able. But I decided to fly through CDG instead because I could get a longer layover and not sweat it.

First Intl through AMS question

Taking first international flight with Delta AVL - ATL - AMS - IST on March 30. The AMS connection is very tight, arriving flight DL0074 at 1045am March 31 and KLM1613 to Istanbul departing at 1140am. It seems its the minimum required time between flights, do I have any shot of making it? Looking at the flight history for both just seems like a prayer i get there early and KLM departs late. Scheduled A333, I paid for seat 16a towards the front. Flying solo so I only have to get me and my carryon to the next gate.

You won't have to go through security, nor passport control. Very doable if everything is on time.

For connection time < 60 minutes, I would be concerned if you're seated in the back of the plane, are not a quick walker and end up going from a high D gate to a high E gate (something you won't know in advance). Summertime crowds could make it worse.

In October, I'm traveling DTW-AMS on DL, transferring to KLM to PRG. I've got 2 hours for the transfer, which I assume is plenty of time, but I'm having trouble figuring out the non-Schengen inbound to Schengen outbound transfer process. I assume I'll go through passport control. Will there also be security screening?

Thanks in advance.

You will arrive in F or G. Go to the main drag (Holland Avenue) and follow it around. B thru E are the Schengen zone. Passport and security blocks your way just before E. You officially enter Schengen there. Lines can be long or short. Get through and spend any extra time on the Schengen side.

PRG rocks. Enjoy a Budvar for me.
No security recheck since arriving from US. Only passport control.

As already stated; In OP case there is no security on your transfer . OP most likely will arrive in a D or E gate.
Keep in mind that C and B are the piers in the Schengen zone, not B thru E (D and E are non-Schengen)
After arrival of OP's flight the passport checks are taking place near the D pier on the border of lounge 2-1.

Helping my boss... he does not regularly fly international and my own experience is only twice yearly -- but seldom the same international airports. On a Tuesday morning in September, he departs Edinburgh on DL 9354 (KLM metal) at 6:00am and arrives in AMS at 8:35am for a connection to DL 47 to JFK at 9:25am... a 50 minute connection. Where does he go through passport control and or security? Both or just land side in Edinburgh?

Will AMS arrival AND departure both be in Hall 2 and Pier E?

Where are the pressure points? Any advice I can offer him?

Thank you kindly.

Security and passport control will happening in Edingburgh. @AMS he will arrive and depart in Lounge 2 (non-Schengen). No security or passport control by the KMAR.
When he arrives he has to go to D1 (Delta PDC) there his documents will be checked by security hired by Delta and he will get his gate number, much of the time Delta flights will be leaving from one of the D or E-gates. At the gate, when boarding, again a quick check of his BP and passport by security employees hired by Delta.
